B.P., student (9.0): Best Match: John Cena vs. Nexus. Worst Match: Eight-Man tag. This show was fantastic. Don't get me wrong, it certainly had its points where it wasn't good, but it kept me intrigued the entire time. I was impressed with the beat downs of Tatsu, Morrison, and Bourne, and viewers also understood why Henry wasn't out there because he was hurt earlier. I enjoyed the angle where Sheamus came out to help John Cena and I'm glad they didn't go with a swerve to end the show. I was shocked to see Gabriel pin Cena, as I didn't expect that at all. The Rookies didn't do too much, but for what they did, it was impressive. Otunga even hit his own finisher. DiBiase vs. Morrison was good, the opening segment was solid, Orton and Edge had a great match with that huge spot, and, for once, I actually cared about how the show ended. Part of me doesn't want to see Cena vs. Sheamus on PPV because I'd rather see this feud (Nexus vs. WWE) continue. Really good show. Edge's interview was a nice touch, too, that got over the importance of Money in the Bank and Edge's seemingly tweener character.
Justin James of Columbia, S.C., IT professional/author (3.0): Best Match: Orton vs. Edge Worst Match: The rest of the matches. I thought this episode of Raw was really disappointing. The opening segment could have been handled in 90 seconds in one of those backstage interviews with Josh Matthews in the middle. The women's bout was poorly done and I thought Eve was awful on commentary. The Usos vs. Hart Dynasty tag team match was dull and overbooked. As someone who saw these two teams face each other at a house show, I promise you that they are much better than what we saw. But, because the match was focused on The Usos cheating instead of their in-ring talent, the match was a mess. The Morrison vs. DiBiase confrontation made no sense; Morrison acted like the heel by insulting Maryse and DiBiase looked like the face for defending her honor, and DiBiase mangled his lines. The only one getting over in these DiBiase segments lately is Maryse. I didn't enjoy the Orton vs. Edge match, but it was the only match worth speaking of. The timing for the final spot with Orton hitting the RKO on Bourne during the Air Bourne was off; Orton came up too late for it and barely got off the mat. That would have been a better spot for Jericho, who would have hit a good Codebreaker in that scenario. The Miz's destruction of Mark Henry would have been better if he didn't attack him with a plastic garbage can and if it was not obviously staged. (The GM laptop was not on the podium when Henry crashed into it.) The Miz continues to shine on the mic and advanced his new, more serious character. I liked the Nexus backstage segments, at least. The guest host was embarrassingly bad. I hope this is the last of that; the comedy match made me want to cry. The main event was exactly what I expected. The Nexus has done a good job learning to tell a story in-ring with facial expressions, particularly Skip Sheffield and Justin Gabriel. The post-match ruined it, as Cena suddenly no-sold the assault despite taking two finishers.
Milan Simnovec, Torch reader: Dear God, they should be happy it's not NFL season right now, as this just gets worse week by week. When can they officially declare the Nexus idea dead? It doesn't seem like the fans care and I sense apathy toward the Rookies, possibly with the exception of Barrett, who is the only new character with strong mic skills. I wish Las Vegas had odds on who the new GM is going to be, as I would bet my house on Michael Cole. Could it be more obvious? Look how he's progressively milking the heel reaction week-by-week when reading the emails. He's so close to sounding like Vickie Guerrero, it's amazing. I'm counting on bad luck that everything will build until Triple H comes back and WWE can loop back into the same fall stories with the same characters in the same roles.
