-- 7/8 TNA Impact Reax

Joby Winn of York, U.K., student: I have to say I strongly enjoyed Impact this week, so much so that I was compelled to send in my first Reax. Now, I fully appreciate that some people are into the Nexus storyline on Raw, but I'm a wrestling fan as opposed to a fan of WWE's version of wrestling. For that reason, Impact walked away with Best Show of the Week honors, in my view. Joe vs. RVD was brilliant. I strongly liked the finish and cannot wait to see these two again headlining a PPV. I also strongly liked the fast-paced tag match, and even the short ladder match was entertaining. Looking at the PPV line-up on Sunday, there's reason to be excited with Kurt Angle vs. the Pope, Beer Money vs. MCMG, and the conclusion of the Love vs. Rayne feud. Potentially, this could be an excellent week for TNA.

-- 7/8 WWE Superstars Reax

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (8.0): Best: Ryder vs. Goldust. Worst: Masterlock Challenge. It was another decent-enough show. Primo/Jillian vs. Yoshi/Gail could have been a good match as a self-contained contest, but it was clear that the story was Jillian vs. the Bellas. Thankfully, it wasn't another Switcheroo finish, so I can better accept the fast count finish. The Bellas, that I could tell, were pretty good at the ref position. Of course, their cheeky shorts were distracting in the wrong way. The Masterlock Challenge returning pretty much means that Chris Masters is on the bubble as far as employment goes. The Dudebusters getting the upper hand at the end of the segment all but seals the deal since Masters just isn't that high enough on the food chain. The Smackdown ladies turned out a pretty decent match worthy of their main event position. Ryder-Goldust was still better, in my opinion, but the ladies really stepped it up in their match. Lay-Cool winning fit Kelly Kelly's current title chase story well.

-- 7/6 WWE NXT Reax

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (9.0): Best: Miz vs. Kaval. Worst: O'Neill video. I thought this was about as close to an ideal episode of NXT as there has been. It just seemed odd that Titus O'Neil was given an exit video after his elimination...unless he joins Nexus on their return trip next week. (I'm still waiting for Nexus to invade Smackdown.) The "Talk The Talk" challenge this go-round wasn't as obvious as last season's challenge. Last season's made it obvious who was winning the challenge; this season's left some room for there to be more than one winner. Percy's in-ring still needs to catch up, but his talk show segment should be pretty good (unless it's where Nexus invades). And, thank you, Matthews for ribbing Cole some more; I'm enjoying Cole being put in his place. ... I liked the detail during the Rookie matches with the Pros on the ring apron in the tag position playing coach. MVP seemed to be more vocal at his job and thus better in his role there. ... Lucky Cannon seems to be on the verge of being eliminated next. His "Talk The Talk" topic was not ideal for him to turn into a promo. Then, he's still struggling to find himself in the ring. Cottonwood isn't much better at this point. It's still Alex Riley's to win or lose, but Kaval may be the dark horse. It seemed clear last season that Daniel Bryan was teased to win, but his elimination made it obvious Wade Barrett would win. We're in that same place with Kaval and Riley, although, this time, Cole isn't focused on Kaval's "Internet following" and Riley is, in my opinion, better in-ring than Barrett is.

-- 7/5 WWE Raw Reax
Nexus_13.jpg

Walt Warren of Detroit, Mich., graphic designer: Best Match: Orton & Bourne vs. Jericho & Edge. Worst Match: Divas match. I get it now. The Nexus group is basically WWE's version of the Others from Lost. The pattern of apologizing and hinting at a bigger picture continues week after week. Wade Barrett is Ben Linus and John Cena is turning out to be the new Jack Shepherd. They are simply following orders from a greater power. With the overwhelming use of Stone Cold catchphrases, I don't think Stone Cold is the new Raw GM. I think Michael Cole could be the new GM since he is using the thing he hates the most about the Internet to cause mayhem. But why make a simple announcer a powerful figure in the grand scheme of things? Why dump the Khali heel turn angle after only a week? Lost had a lot of questions, but they made sense in their own unique way. Let's hope WWE is also working towards an ending.

Brian Harmon of Saint Paul, Minn. (8.5): This was one of the most consistently entertaining episodes of Raw I've seen in a long time. I don't remember the last time I was so intrigued that I actually lost sight of how little wrestling there was on the show. The Nexus storyline is progressing beautifully. I strongly liked how they mixed in a storyline that it might make sense for many of the wrestlers to support Nexus rather than resist them, as well as the faction's attempts to curry favor with select members of the roster. The Sheamus-Arn Anderson segment was a wonderful example of how to use the Legends to help develop the emerging stars. No McMahons, no guest host, very little stupid comedy - this is more like it. Annoyances on the show included the gullible babyface nonsense from R-Truth and Eve, and the handicap match announced at the end. It's also a shame that they can't make better use of William Regal. Otherwise, a very strong effort.
