-- 7/5 WWE Raw Reax
David Miller of Terre Haute, Ind. (7.5): Best Match: Jericho & Edge vs. Orton & Bourne. Worst Match: Santino & Kozlov vs. Regal & Khali. Once again, the storyline of The Nexus and the anonymous Raw GM essentially saved Raw from being just another wrestling show. The opening segment was exciting and well done, and the tease of Steve Austin being the GM was brilliant. Note to Wade Barrett: Dick York wants his haircut back. Morrison vs. DiBiase was good, but I hope there's a good reason that Morrison is being jobbed out. I really see Morrison as being just a step away from being a Superstar on par with John Cena. ... Kozlov and Santino always make for an amusing, if not pointless segment. ... Good segment with Arn Anderson and Sheamus, showing an old-timer's frustration at not being able to enlighten a younger wrestler on the proper path to take. ... Another good segment with Edge and Jericho. It was nice to see that just because they are both heels, they don't have to be bosom buddies. ... Alicia Fox vs. Eve. If you lined up all of the Divas and asked me to pick out Alicia Fox and Eve, I might have a hard time doing so. That, folks, is a major problem. ... The ending segment was every bit as good as the opening segment was, with Cena showing good babyface fire. It was a good thing Cena got that cut on his arm at the end of the show. Otherwise, they'd have had to stop the show to put a Flintstones Band-Aid on his booboo.
Chris C. of Fort Bliss, Tex. (4.5): Best: Opening segment. Worst: Divas Title match. This week's show opened really strong with Cena and company going head-to-head with Sheamus and the heels. It continued throughout the night with Sheamus and Double A's interaction and Edge and Jericho positioning Nexus for their cause. It was very well done. However, the rest of the show felt like filler for the "main event" handshake. The tag match with Bourne and RKO vs. Y2J and Edge was really the only thing that helped move along a storyline. The beating on R-Truth wasn't necessary and he might be missed at the MITB PPV. Alicia Fox's "segment" and match didn't do anything but fill time. Then, the handshake main event actually saved the show. Nice work by Cena at the end to dismantle Young. I think that's some of the best work Cena has done that could show promise of an amazing heel turn down the road. All in all, it was an average show with a good opening segment and an even better main event. Note to WWE, if Austin is actually the Raw GM, get him in the building to explain his rulings. This has potential to be the best storyline in five years if he's involved.
Efren Bojorquez, Torch VIP Subscriber (8.0): It's very simple. I look forward to Raw every Monday night... Is this the beginning of crowd signs that say, "And I quote," in reference to Michael Cole reading the anonymous GM's emails? What a great angle to blurt out Steve Austin's signature catch-phrases. What's next? The GM says "Know your role, and shut your mouth?" ... Arn Anderson is getting quite the bit of TV time lately. Has the march to WrestleMania 27 and the Hall of Fame begun? Arn, Lex Luger, and who's next...Goldberg? ... Crowds seem to becoming more upset with the GM's emails interrupting, which is a good thing, and needs to be embellished more. ... Cena's face at the end was money. It was a side of him that is rarely shown. How much longer until he crushes the GM's podium and laptop? Overall, the questions from Monday night's show made for intriguing TV, and I am looking forward to the story that follows.
