Adam J. Grammas of Westchester, Ill. (7.0): Best Match: A.J. vs. Pope. Worst Match: Main Event. There were a lot of face-face and heel-heel match-ups last night. I know Kennedy was still getting booed, but I did hear some positives from the audience. Is a quick face turn too far away? I think Mick Foley has finally hit his comfort zone in TNA in his face-offs with Bischoff, probably because it's based on reality. I know people say that when TNA takes shots at WWE, it's a sign of desperation, but I enjoyed Taz's mentions of Adamle and Connecticut. He has the right to say all that because he lived it (as opposed to say, Tenay). ... On another subject, we quickly have Team 3D back to being faces. Are they still with Jesse Neal & Rhino? Has Rhino recovered from his attack? The Machine Guns have! I like Pope getting the victory over A.J. Styles. I think he's one of the best WWE cast-offs TNA has. Speaking of which, Tomko did not look right wrestling Angle. They did not mesh well. That being said, I'm not a fan of him being treated like a jobber or an afterthought since he was revealed as Styles's mystery attack. One match and that's it? If I'm pushing a big man, I pick Tomko over Morgan. Tomko is much more natural when speaking. Morgan is too intense and not in a good way. ... I'm not sure what was up with the delayed save from Tara for Angelina. Is she turning heel? Glad it was done that way and not Love delaying with a save because we do not need her back with the BP. They're all in the right roles now. The main event was just AWFUL, even by Nash's standards. But I guess that was secondary to the storyline of the Hall/Syxx-Pac turn. They seemed more committed to it, as opposed to the "Hall is an alcoholic" feud Hall and Nash had back in '99.
Jare'l Barnes, college student (8.5): Best Match: A.J. Styles vs. Dinero. Worst Match: Nash-Foley Street fight. TNA Impact opened up really strong. Eric Bischoff was masterful once again on the mic and delivered a strong promo with Mick Foley. Foley also spoke from deep down and it felt like a genuine speech. I was amazed to see Foley in a serious promo instead of the tacky thing he's been up to in the storylines. Abyss is too special of a character to have him bawling about a job position with J.B., though, because it takes away credibility. I feel that Borash being taken off TV is a good move because his overall persona in its current state is not marketable; his contributions could be better used behind the scenes. Hogan's acting was a bit off, but he still delivered decent promos. The Nasty Boys angle should run its course in the next month or two because these guys don't draw numbers. The best part about the show was Mr. Anderson. He's the hottest wrestling talent on the mic and I like him being built up to the main event level. He is the best heel in TNA outside of Bischoff. The Pope should get more mic time and A.J. Styles should have had more mic time because I don't think Ric Flair should be a mouthpiece for a World-class talent like A.J. The Women's match was decent; I actually enjoyed all the matches on the show for the most part. Samoa Joe is indeed the future and TNA is finally using him right by taking their time to develop a real storyline with Styles. I sincerely hope Jeff Hardy comes in and has a big time feud with Sting or A.J. Styles because matches like those are what people want to see, not Scott Hall and Syxx Pac against Kevin Nash. I am a fan of most of the older talent, but their time is up.
