-- 11/16 WWE Raw Reax
Joseph Martinez of Hayward, Calif. (5.0): Best: Tie between Miz-MVP and The Brawl. Worst: The rest of the show. This show was horrible and I doubt it even deserved a five. Maybe I was spoiled by TNA. Wait! Did I just say that? Yes I did! I was going to write a rating after the PPV last night since I was so juiced when it was over. But than I realized that Raw was going to be in MSG and it might actually be good. Boy was that a mistake! Raw was just plane horrible, especially leading into the fourth biggest PPV of the year. WWE did not even try to build towards it. I was going to order Survivor Series no matter what. Now, I am not so sure. The biggest reason I am considering not ordering the PPV is because TNA blew me away. I just started watching TNA the night Desmond Wolfe showed up but have ordered TNA before. That was the night Samoa Joe fought Jushin Thunder Liger in what was the worst match I had ever seen Liger in. I said I would never order another TNA PPV, but Vince has driven me to do so. And what I saw Sunday night was nothing short of amazing. Wolfe-Angle was worth the money alone. Yet to be followed by Styles, Joe, and Daniels was just brilliant. I had fun and felt like a kid again. I hope someone in WWE paid attention because that was wrestling. Oh wait, Vince is in the entertainment business. I have been loyal to Vince since I was ten-years-old. But a few more weeks like tonight and I will turn off Raw for good.
Adam from Edmonton, Alb. (1.5): Best: Kofi Kingston-Randy Orton brawl. Worst: Santino Marella vs. Chavo Guerrero. Was I the only one paying attention this week? The first set of Reax I read had them both claiming this was one of the best Raws of 2009. I'm sorry but I beg to differ. First of all, is there even a pay-per-view on Sunday? Other than the announcers running down the card and John Cena's "promo" before the main event, it really didn’t seem like the lead-in before a PPV. First, we got Miz vs. MVP which was actually not a bad little match to open the show, even though Miz seemed to win just a little too easily. Then we got Chavo vs. Santino, which would have been a good match about five-six years ago when they would have given them more than 2:30. But, once the match was over, it suddenly became all about DX and Hornswoggle again with no mention of the match. I’m sorry but enough is enough already. Triple H went from respected multi-time World Champion to Pedigreeing a midget wrestler. Reeeeally? And storylines like this are supposed to entice me to spend $45 on a PPV next year? I'll try TNA where they at least care about wrestling and not about selling a crappy book (once again, how is it "Unauthorized" when it was written by DX?). I’m so sick of DX. I was sick of them by 2000. They are beating a dead horse and it needs to stop. They brought Chris Masters back to do a pec dance but they couldn't sign Desmond Wolfe (Nigel McGuiness) to a contract? Shows you where the WWE's mindset is. No mention of Jericho’s WrestleMania feud with Piper kind of annoyed me too. Divas match was a yawn and I don't care. Piper's promo sucked. It seemed like he was the only one who thought he was funny and Vince didn't save the segment either. Sheamus's attack was well done, but I wish he kicked Michael Cole instead of the King. Swagger and Bourne was predictable, and they only showed two minutes, so I didn't care. Kofi Kingston is the man. Hands down he was the MVP of the show. The way this brawl was done was almost perfect and Orton deserves props for taking, what to me, looked like a vicious shot with the lid from the crate. I also love how NYC babyfaced Orton. The main event was pretty predictable with Cena getting another "epic victory." The Undertaker attack was just as predictable. The worst part of the entire show is this: I don't understand AT ALL how this show was supposed to entice me to buy Survivor Series. Aside from Kingston-Orton, none of the feuds were really given much attention. Miz-Morrison got about five minutes of air time, DX-Cena was focused more on Hornswoggle with a half-assed promo by Cena, and the Divas got their usual two minutes. I'm not even sure if there are any more Raw matches. For all of these reasons fellow Torch readers, this was NOT one of the best Raws of 2009, but one of the worst by far. I hope TNA gets better so I can officially switch over.
