TNA Turning Point Reax #1: "It has been many years since I've seen someone actually wrestle on par with Kurt Angle"

-- 11/15 TNA Turning Point PPV Reax

Jerrod Kinyon of Wichita, Kan. (9.0): Best Match: Tie (Styles-Joe-Daniels, Angle-Wolfe). Worst Match: None. I have watched TNA Wrestling since its first weekly Pay-Per-View back in 2003, through some good times and lots of bad times. That said, Turning Point 2009 may have been the single best show the company has done. Ever. There was not a single "bad" match on the card, and even the match I looked forward to the least (Team 3D & Rhino vs. Hernandez, Morgan & Dinero) grabbed my attention. The only reason I didn't give it a perfect score was for the slightly-hokey way the TNA World Tag Team Title match ended. Where the heck did the Guns go during the last five minutes, anyway? "Union-rules" coffee break? There were two matches I looked forward to the most, and that was the Main Event and Kurt Angle vs. Desmond Wolfe. Not only did they deliver what I'd hoped for with quality drama and in-ring action, they exceeded them. It has been many years since I've seen someone actually wrestle on par with Kurt Angle, and Desmond Wolfe did just that. He truly is an incredibly-skilled athlete, and WWE dropped the ball big time by not signing him when they had the chance. Although they set the bar high for the main event, Styles, Joe, and Daniels delivered once again in a match where all three of the participants deserve to be TNA World Champion. I spent $35 to order this show, and I would spend another $35 every month if every TNA Pay-Per-View was at least this good. Everyone seemed to step up their game tonight, from the wrestlers to the referees to the announce crew... heck, even to the "monkeys in the truck." And it showed.

-- 11/13 WWE Smackdown Reax

Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (6.0): Best: Morrison vs. Ziggler (minus finish). Worst: more lameness. It's not nearly as bad as Raw, but Survivor Series should be named Sloppy Series for the build-up on its two main shows. Punk-Truth, meant as Survivor Series build, focused an awful lot of attention to the Punk-Armstrong feud. Funny, Armstrong seemed to do a competent job on other matches across the TV board without incident (or mention who he was). Really makes Punk look bad for lame feud. Mickie-Natalya would have been a better match without the lame distraction. I could (barely) accept Mickie taking the loss against Natalya under the circumstances if there was better follow-up. In the next match, Drew was clearly disqualified, yet the match was deemed a no contest? Lame-o. The Rey-Batista contract signing was fine until Batista did that silly kicking around after Rey turned over the table. The feud doesn't need comedy, even unintentional comedy. Morrison had one of his better promos before his match. There were no "Mr Ziggles" insults (thank goodness) and he came across as focused and a tad philosophical. The double count-out finish took away from the Morrison-Ziggler match until WWE followed up that there is a 2-out-of-3 falls match on the horizon. Beth Phoenix continues to be in a holding pattern for some reason. Jericho-Undertaker was an okay match, but it just boggles the mind that this much of a match was given away. Meanwhile, Jericho really doesn't need his "Undertaker is mortal" promo to prove his point. The Dead Man seems to be more mortal in the ring, as he showed some legit pain and suffering on his face. Big Show's post-match attack was expected, and, to a degree, so was Kane's save. I wouldn't be surprised, though, if the three-way becomes a four-way (Kane added) come next Sunday. Jericho's going to have his work cut out for him whichever way it ends up being.
