TNA Impact Reax #2: "The Mafia is now disbanded after TNA tried for a year to make them the top heel faction in pro wrestling?" Oct 23, 2009 - 1:22:44 PM
Daren Compton of Hindman, Ky. (8.5): Best Segment/Match: Angle's opening, Desmond Wolfe debuts. Worst Match/Segment: Kong/Saeed powerbomb angle. It had been quite some time since I watched Impact. However, I felt compelled to watch tonight, and I'm glad I did. I am glad to see the phasing out of the Main Event Maia, which bored me to tears, as factions have been done to death in recent years. I was confused to see Nash get the pin during his tag match, but that is a small complaint. I have never had the chance to watch "Nigel McGuinness," or now Desmond Wolf before, but he showed tons of poise and potential breakout stardom. Glad WWE didn't sign Nigel, as they'd have put him in Evan Bourne-like purgatory. Good showing for TNA!
Bill Sartori of Windsor Locks, Conn.: Gotta give Russo credit for this; he knows how to keep Impact interesting. Of course there are enough twists and turns to make a snake go insane but... Now Kurt Angle - as the head dick of the Mafia for a year - is now bucking for lead face? Rhino is now the head dick/heel on TNA? Daniels back to being a heel? Creed, Lethal, and Guns back on TV? The Mafia is now disbanded after TNA tried for a year to make them the top heel faction in pro wrestling? Eric Young and World Elite now TNA's top heel faction considering they, as a unit, didn't exist two months ago? Is Kong a face/heel, tweener, or what is she besides huge? At least TNA is still keeping Team 3D, The Brits, and Beer Money as the lead teams on the show. I see that the Lashley-Joe feud lasted, what, one PPV? Although, I think that Lashley-Steiner feud may have more potential that Lashley-Joe did. As for Joe and Nash - face foils for the Elite? Mafia-Lite? It seems quite hypocritical for TNA to have the Mafia bash the "kids" for being snot-nosed punks who wanted everything handed to them on a sliver platter, but Nigel "Desmond Wolfe" McGuinness shows up in the last ten minutes of his debut on TNA and already is in a feud with arguably the top star in TNA, Angle.
