Kevin Wang, Torch VIP, of Dallas, Texas (Bad): Each episode of Raw or Smackdown usually has a segment or two that either don't make sense or is just off the mark in terms of tone. Raw was almost entirely comprised of such segments, the result being an offering that had me wondering if I was watching Impact. The biggest problem I had was with the guest hosts, Nancy O'Dell and Maria Menounos. Most TV show guests understand that it's not their house, and they pay proper respect to the regulars. This is true on all shows which feature guests, but the two women were scripted to cop an attitude with the WWE Superstars from the get-go. This did not endear them to fans who regularly watch and enjoy these characters week in and week out. A few examples: Not allowing Jillian Hall (a reliable hand in the ring for years, putting over lesser talent) even a moment to take in her title victory before sending in Melina to take it from her; not showing any concern at all for Chavo Guerrero's well-being after a possibly accidental crotch kick; arrogantly talking down to Beth Phoenix and Jillian Hall. Huge fan Maria also evidently cannot tell Cody Rhodes from Ted DiBiase. Add to that some of the least logical match-ups and booking we've seen in a while, add a liberal dose of Triple H being a big jerk, and tonight's Raw was one of the worst in quite a while.
Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (3.0): Best: Miz promo. Worst: Mickie vs. Jillian. The good news: Shawn Michaels wasn't visibly present on Raw (cutouts don't count). The bad news: Shawn Michaels was still involved in this dismal episode. I knew something was up when Jericho announced only he was captain of the Smackdown Bragging Rights team. But a split of Jeri-Show? Well, when there isn't much in the way of competition, what else do you do? I saw some promise in the qualifiers for the Raw team. Show's addition into the group was actually well played out. Swagger's win was semi-expected to keep his story going. But did I hear it right that the commentators completely missed MVP getting shouldered into the post to explain him selling an arm injury? Kofi gets a win back after his title loss, and Bourne remains a jobber. The big trade should have included some of the men so Evan can go elsewhere. I would rather have a consolation battle royal to determine the #7 member of Team Raw instead of the giveaway of Henry vs. Masters. Normally I stay away from spoilers or other outside information, but I needed the divas trade info to figure out the deal with the two-fer Divas title switch. It would have been so much more logical to have the champs switch than this cluster. I'm just a lowly fan; what do I know about logic? Jillian, bless her heart, got completely psyched out tonight. She blew just about every move she made in the two matches, and I know she's better than that. Maria M interviewing Legacy had a style I like. That same tone came across as condescending later with Beth around. I actually wouldn't have minded if Beth smacked Maria a little. Maria did okay in the match, but thankfully she herself didn't get the win. I have no intentions of seeing "Serial Buddies;" it looks just plain stupid. Miz did a very fine promo talking up his title win and upcoming PPV match as well as talking down Morrison. I actually couldn't tell if the crowd kicked in "awful" or "awesome" at the end. Triple H may think he's an MVP for being the "star" of the show, but I'm not down that. With Shawn, he can't say "asshole" because of PG; without Shawn there he lets gay entendre rip all over Jeri-Show. Didn't GLAAD get in WWE's face over Vince making an alleged derogatory remark during the Las Vegas show? And if I remember correctly, Hunter is married with kids on camera and off, right? What was this "training session" he had with Maria M? Nancy O'Dell was a surrogate for Hunter in terms of booking power. Why was she even there then? And if memory also serves, wasn't Hunter the one who named Hornswoggle an honorary member of DX (with Shawn's approval) some time ago? I'm hoping beyond hope that the off-the-cuff "piece of trash" remark by Shawn about the DX box won't go cumulatively unnoticed with the other signs of a DX dissolve. Shawn's not ruining DX's legacy; Hunter is.
