TNA Genesis PPV Reax #1: "Why was everyone in a panic at the start of the PPV because Rhino wasn't there?" Jan 11, 2009 - 10:20:09 PM
Matt Johnson of Norway, Mich. (5.0): Best Match: Angle vs. Jarrett. Worst Match: The tag team title match. Why was everyone in a panic at the start of the PPV because Rhino wasn't there? There was over two hours until the main event. Is it out of the question to start a PPV with a regular wrestling match? Within a minute of it ending, I could not list the participants of the opening match if someone held a gun to my head. The Cornette-Steiner segment was unpleasant. Was it necessary to scream and talk about piss? The start of the X Division match did not resemble a fight. They methodically went through moves with no emotion as if it were an exhibition at a wrestling school. Seriously, watch it again. At risk of sounding too negative, I won't comment on Shane Sewell's potential to draw money. The Angle-Jarrett match was physical and very fun to watch. I am disappointed that they just kicked out after chair shots to the head. That late '90s mentality needs to go because it unnecessarily raises the bar. Rhino-Sting sucked. Kip James did his best late '90s Barry Darsow impression by insulting the local sports team. The main event had some pretty bad wrestling. The show is worth checking out on DVD, however, based on the Angle-Jarrett match.
Matt Guerra of Bayonne N.J. (7.0): Best match was Shelley vs. Sabin, the worst match was the ladies debacle. This PPV had potential to be great, but in the end some injuries ended up hurting the overall product. At some point the writing of TNA has to be looked at. For them not to come up with anything better then Cute Kipp in the main event is a glaring problem. This man has no been relevant in years, nor should he be. They would have been better off flying in a Buff Bagwell then taking the cheap way out. Mick Foley, I like your character but there is no more need for you to wrestle. Shelley and Sabin showed you what the x-division should be all about, embrace it TNA this is what will put you on the map.

the ppv was good in this way: there was no run-ins at all. Mick did not
join the mem which I thought he would. the best match for sure was angle
vs. Jarrett. no question there. I hope Kevin Nash gets better and wish for
a full recovery.
