Terrie Neilson of Las Vegas, Nev. (8.0): Best: Jarrett promo; Foley-Angle promo Worst: Kip. Yet again, the remaining content of the build toward the PPV felt like filler versus the main attraction of the evening. And yet again, the TNA World Title took a back seat to something Angle-related. Unlike before, however, this stuff wasn't nonsense. Sting and Samoa Joe are spinning their wheels repeating their mantras over and over, losing steam for their match. And Sting was talking in past tense, and I just couldn't buy into his side of the equation. Meanwhile, Jeff Jarrett and Kurt Angle make the press look like fools for being a part of an angle. Actually, nice work there. Angle getting fined for his comments seemed off, though, if Jarrett is taking the gloves off in the ring for a match. Kong, Roxxi, and Taylor aren't on the program, but at least it is explained that its for respective preparations for the three-way title match. They did a Rough Cut about Roxxi, but nothing further about Taylor or Kong, which makes an imbalance. We get what's left of the Women's Division for two matches. Weren't there more at one time, even taking into consideration Kim's departure? Probably explains why there wasn't more input on ODB finding a partner. So far the trigger hasn't pulled on a turn by Christian, and I'm hoping it isn't. It's not needed, and like reax and reviews I'm reading everywhere are saying: why should Christian HAVE to make a "one or the other" choice? Rhaka Khan is a freak; Kip isn't exactly a shorty, but she's was almost nose-to-nose with him and she wasn't wearing heels. She was very clumsy in the ring, but it was her first real match, so I'm cutting some slack for now. Foley seemed humbled at first by the crowd reaction, but once he got in the groove he was on top of things. NICE crowd sign as well. Saying WWE wrestlers' names may have been a dangerous thing to do, but it worked for Foley's attempt to appease Angle before making his announcement as special enforcer. Judging by the crowd, they do watch the competition and nearly mirror WWE reactions (Edge, Taker, Michaels, and Jericho were cheered despite two heels in that list; Triple H was booed despite being a face, and John Cena was booed mercilessly period). All in all, an entertaining show, but not very good for PPV build.
David Z. of St. Charles, Mo. (8.5): Best Match: LAX/Motor City Worst Match: X Title Three-Way. Tonight's show was ridiculous on several points. Jarrett showed Angle's "unaired promo" against Vince McMahon. I get that Jarrett is now known of the founder of TNA in this buildup and he's wanting to piss off Angle. However, watching this, it came off as Angle was pissed because now he can't go back to the bigger better company WWE. So if Angle legitmately leaves TNA when his contract is up, this angle will look so stupid. That why some things should be kept backstage and private. All of Vince Russo's insider internet shoot stuff he's always done have always failed. TNA has been known to promote WWE, which has always been stupid, and they did that tonight a lot. Mick Foley name dropped McMahon a few times, talked about his Smackdown commentating, and promoted WWE by mentioning the Shawn/Jericho and Taker/Edge feuds. TNA, promote yourself, stop promoting WWE. Sheik Bashir is not the best X-Champion TNA has had. He's a good performer, the gimmick is just outdated. Plus, with two weeks from their "biggest PPV of the year," the no. 1 contender appears to be a referee? The X-Title match, whatever it will be, should have been built up over months. And Consequences Creed was no where to be found tonight either? Mike Tenay's comment about Alex Shelley flipping off LAX behind their back being okay because it wasn't to their face made zero sence. Secondly, LAX aren't "veterans" in reality and in this angle. TNA makes no sence. Two weeks till their biggest PPV ever, and Samoa Joe & Sting appear in a pre-tape? What the hell? They just bickered back and forth, point-counterpoint, not really making any sence, because well Vince Russo probably wrote it. Sting said why would they try to hurt Angle, or Booker T. Well Sting, Kurt Angle tried to hurt A.J. Styles, so why the hell wouldn't A.J. try to hurt Angle back? This is pro wrestling. Russo, Russo Russo! Then we get Kurt Angle making the "shoot in real-life" comment about Jarrett's wife. This was just disgusting. I'm sorry, but I'll bet money that this was Russo's doing. Russo is a complete idiot. Why would you bring something as hard as that was for Jeff onto TV as entertainment? Jeff probably agreed with it; that's why it aired. But why Russo or Dutch or Dixie would sugges that line, I have zero clue.
