A.A. Norman of Tulsa, Okla. (5.0): Let's just focus on the positives for now: Chris Jericho is a great heel, C.M. Punk has the potential to be a great champion, Kofi Kingston turns every match he's involved with into pure gold. Santino and Beth Phoenix are the new entertaining wrestling couple to gossip about a la Chyna and Eddie Guererro (may he rest in peace). Okay, that's about it. Mike Adamle was bad in a limited role with WWE, so let's give him a larger role on a larger show! Better yet, let's put William Regal in a unitard so he never violates our substance policy again. Batista is a man of few words, so let's give him many words! Cena is already a big tool, but we can make him an even bigger tool by putting "CENATION" across his shirt! Oh, and hilarious acts like Cryme Tyme shall only be relegated to 30 seconds of television time. The viewers are annoyed with JBL, so let's put him in the main event with Kane and his mysterious little bag that everyone knows is his mask. This is getting erased from my DVR immediately.
Ian of Niigata Japan (8.0): Best match: Old King/Cole vs. The Priceless Pair. Worst Match: Lance Cade vs. Y2J on the stick. Everyone is complaining about the announcement of Mike Adamle as the new Raw G.M., but I think it's a great idea. This move has the potential to hide his negatives and accentuate his positives. First, this job will be 100% scripted, covering up the fact that Adamle can't inprovise to save his life. Also, setting matches does not require knowledge of wrestling jargon such as move names. In addition, many of the G.M. segments can be pretaped giving Adamle as many takes as needed to get something right. As for the positives (and he does have some) between his haircut, face, and suit, Mike Adamle has a clean cut Boy Scout look that is approprite for an annoying authority figure similar to the Lumburg character from "Office Space." He already has serious heat with the fans who won't forget his announcing (no matter how hard they try). Lastly, there are several storyline options here. Adamle has been harassed by all the anouncers and half the locker room for months, so now that he's in power he may exact revenge from the jocks who have been bullying him. Beyond that, he has been portrayed as a clown. If he suddenly starts makes sound management decisions, it opens the lines for a mystrious puppet master to have been manipulationg Adamle all along. See, there are silver linings in every cloud.
Adam Riemer, New York, N.Y. (7.0): Best: Chris Jericho and his bid for the title. Worst: D-Lo Brown trying to get a crowd reaction. I am sure a lot of people in the WWE world would have put the new GM up there as the worst part of the show, but I actually like Mike Adamle. It got very predictable, though, after Michael Cole got beat up by Cody Rhodes; it kind of made sense that he was behind it since the only other person who would put the announcer in the match would have been J.R., and we have all seen what a J.R. heel turn looks like with Michael Cole (it wasn't very good for those who remember). I think Adamle was a decent choice. He has the potential to be a real arrogant heel G.M., something Raw has not had since Eric Bischoff. To be honest, though, at the start of the show I thought that Shane McMahon was going to announce himself as the new G.M. or even Ric Flair, but I like the Adamle move. Onto the wrestling, Batista tripped over every line he said, and if wasn't for John Cena (constantly) mentioning that they were in his home town of D.C., the crowd would have stayed half dead. Summerslam seems really soon to be pushing this match, especially with them both being faces. The WWE needs to stop with the face vs. face matches on Raw. The best part of Raw was Jericho denouncing his Y2J persona and taking a very serious heel turn; he was a little redundant this week, but at least he is starting to get into the title hunt. Raw needs him to be the champion.
