WWE Raw Reax #1: "Hopefully Adamle has been acting out of place for the past few months because he's got some real heel talent up his sleeve." Jul 28, 2008 - 10:36:27 PM
Dan Strauss of Goodhue, Minn. (7.0): Best: Santino's comedy Worst: Batista's 1995 Washington Bullets size small jersey. Santino actually referred to Beth as the "glamorous Amazon." He was also laugh-out-loud hilarious celebrating his win. The guy is money. The Lawler/Cole vs. Tag Champs match was interesting because without announcing you really had a chance to pay more attention to the refs, who obviously work hard and have to keep storyline as well. The creative team keeps showing it's not 100 percent behind the decision to put the belt on C.M. Punk as it seems his timeslot is the end of the first hour. The ending was weird and a letdown, but definitely shocking. I, like others, believed and supported Regal as G.M. and thought they had him come back as a "free agent" to make us think that would take him out of the G.M. race. Well, apparently it did. Of course, it doesn't look like a good move to have Adamle as G.M. of the flagship show, but I'll give it a shot. He started out rough on commentary and then everyone jumped on the Adamle-bashing bandwagon, so I'm sure most will hate this move, but hopefully Adamle has been acting out of place for the past few months because he's got some real heel talent up his sleeve to display as a G.M.
Sean Banks (2.0): Well, what can I say? Someone wrote about how terrible TNA was last week in one of your reaction columns. Apparently that person is brainwashed by the WWE product or he hasn't watched Raw of late. The show is filled with lame-duck champions, excluding than Mickie James, only getting over by wrestling announcers and guys coming back from suspensions. They took J.R./King off of Raw to give someone else a shot, and now they are back in just three weeks, why? Ratings haven't dropped. Are they the only announce team now? Makes no sense. What? Mike "WHO" is the G.M.? I would've rather seen Bischoff return. If this is what the "PG" era holds, I don't want to waste my time with it anymore. The only reason I gave this show a 2.0 was the actual decent main event (which they screwed up by not allowing Batista to win in his hometown in a non-meaningful tag match), Mickie James, and Chris Jericho. All the other stuff isn't worth me tuning back in next week. After tonight, thank goodness there is good wrestling on Thursday and Friday nights.
Bryson of Nashville, Tenn. (6.0): Best Match/Segment: Chris Jericho's Promo. Worst Match/Segment: The Announcement of Mike Adamle as G.M. I don't usually write in, but this was worth it. The ONLY reason I'm giving Raw a 6.0 is because of the Jericho promo and my enjoyment of all things Mickie/Katie/Layla. That's it. William Regal vs. C.M. Punk was a fun display for Regal and it was stiff, but Punk got laid out again for the nth time in a few weeks. The Cena/Batista announcement got NO REACTION whatsoever after the Adamle announcement. For two guys who are supposed to be this era's Rock and Austin, the crowd reacted like they could not have cared less. I was amused by that alone, but knowing that Adamle is now apart of Raw weekly? Worst news of the year. I tolerate Raw for the people I listed earlier but after the Katie/Mickie feud concludes, I might have to stick to Smackdown, Shimmer DVDs, and a little Impact. The Triple H/Cena/Michaels catering by the booking over the last three years was already hard to watch without cringing the whole way but enough is enough.
