Action Figure Spotlight #61: Arnold Schwarzenegger Funko Reaction “The Terminator” T800

As one of the biggest movie stars of all time, Arnold Schwarzenegger has plenty of action figures. But, a new line of action figures aimed at adult collectors and children of the ‘80s provides some of the coolest toys ever made of the new WWE Hall of Famer.

In 2014, specialty toymaker Funko unveiled its new ReAction line of toys. These 3-3/4-inch action figures are designed to look and feel just like the line of Star Wars toys that Kenner produced from roughly 1977 to 1985. Funko has produced ReAction figures for “The Goonies,” “Back to the Future,” “Firefly,” Universal Monsters, and many more, including a horror series with figures of Eric Draven from “The Crow,” Jason Voorhees, Michael Myers, Pinhead, Freddy Krueger, and more.

A line of figures from “The Terminator” just began hitting retail store shelves over the last months. This set includes figures of the Terminator, the T800 Endoskeleton (with chrome and dull variations), Sarah Connor and Kyle Reese. Perhaps the coolest figure is the T800 Terminator, which captures Arnold in his classic leather jacket and sunglasses look.




Kids and collectors who have become accustomed to the amazing detail provided by toy companies like Mattel, McFarlane, and Figures Toy Co. may not get the appeal to this new toy line. But, anybody who ever ran to their local Alco or Kmart as a kid looking for a new Star Wars figure can appreciate the emotion and nostalgia that these toys capture.

Unlike ultra-articulated figures of today, most of Funko’s ReAction figures have only five points of articulation: arms, legs and swiveling head. Everything about them screams 1980s, from the style of the figure, to the weapons and accessories, to the packaging itself, which looks just like a Kenner Star Wars package.

Funko’s ReAction figures are available at most major retailers, including Toys R Us, Walmart, and Target. Most stores sell figures for $9.99 each. A full checklist and pictures of each figure can be found at Funko.com.
