In Brief: Mattel's Elite WWE figures of Luke Harper, Erick Rowan, and Bray Wyatt have been some of the hottest new figures of 2014 - and recent events could make them even hotter.

Action Figure Spotlight #53: Wyatt Family Mattel WWE Elite Series 28 and 29

- Originally Released: 2014
- What you can expect to pay: $18-20 each retail; $60-75 for all three online

Very few wrestlers in the last 25 years have been as action figure ready as Bray Wyatt, Luke Harper, and Erick Rowan. Wrestling action figure collectors were champing at the bit for these new figures from the time they were announced in early 2014 until they hit retail stores over the summer.

Mattel has released basic and Elite toys of all three members of the Wyatt family, but the three Elite figures in particular are the collectors’s choice. Wyatt was released first in Elite Series 28, and Harper and Rowan followed shortly thereafter in Elite Series 29. All three figures are incredibly detailed, particularly Wyatt and Rowan. The Rowan figure is solid as a brick, and is one of the heaviest figures Mattel has ever made.

These three Elite figures were released over the summer, but you may still be able to find all three at your local retail store. Some Walmart stores received large quantities of Series 28, so the figure of Wyatt may be the easiest to find. Expect to pay $18-20 per figure in your local retail store.

The figures tend to sell just slightly higher online, probably due to sellers’s shipping costs and auction fees. Wyatt and Harper usually sell in $20-25 range both loose and packaged. Rowan tends to sell somewhat higher, usually in the $25-30 range, with some recent auctions ending as high as $40. A collection of all three figures – packaged or loose – can usually be found for about $60-75.

Many collectors were just as excited about the Wyatts’s accessories as they were about the figures themselves. Wyatt comes with a removable hat and shirt, Harper with a removable flannel shirt and a glow in the dark lantern, and Rowan with a sheep mask and rocking chair. Rowan’s accessories may be the driving factor behind prices of his figure being slightly higher than the other two.

Sellers quite often open the packaging and sell the figures and accessories separately. If you don’t mind a loose figure without accessories, you might be able to get each figure for around $10. Some collectors may want just the Bray Wyatt figure with accessories from all three – Wyatt’s hat and shirt, Harper’s glow in the dark lantern and Rowan’s chair. A loose Bray Wyatt figure with all four accessories usually sells at the higher end of the $25-40 range.

The loose accessories can also be somewhat pricy. Harper’s lantern and Rowan’s chair usually sell for at least $10 each, and Rowan’s sheep mask sells slightly higher, closer to $15 on average.

All three figures will be interesting to track over the months leading up to the Royal Rumble. Harper’s Intercontinental Title win and Rowan’s babyface turn suddenly make them seem fresher than Bray Wyatt, whose feud with Dean Ambrose seems to have done more harm than good for both men.

Collectibles Column Note

It’s been just about two years since an Action Figure Spotlight was included in the PWTorch Collectibles Column. Since then, Mattel has released dozens (or more) new wrestling figures, Figures Toy Company has announced plans for a Ring of Honor, line and Jakks has put out a few TNA figures. The collectibles market for wrestling action figures is always changing, so expect to see more articles on old toy lines such as LJN, Hasbro, Jakks, and others.
