In Brief: With Father's Day just around the corner, which wrestling dads and their sons have the best toys?

(5) Sika and Roman Reigns. The first figures of The Shield aren’t even out yet, but collectors are chomping at the bit to get their hands on them. Roman Reigns’s first figure is set to be released this fall with Seth Rollins in the 24th wave of Battle Packs. Although Sika had a run with Kamala in 1986 and ’87, LJN never made a Sika figure for its WWF Wrestling Superstars line. Sika’s first figures weren’t released until the mid-2000s, when Jakks made two Wild Samoan sets in its Classic WWE Superstars line.

(4) Ted DiBiase, Sr. and Ted DiBiase, Jr. “The Million Dollar Man” had one of the biggest WWF debuts of all time with his memorable “everybody’s got a price” skits. His first figure was produced in the fifth series of LJN WWF Wrestling Superstars in 1987, dressed in a tux and clutching a wad of cash. Loose figures are tough to find, especially in good condition; they usually sell for $30-40, with packaged figures selling in the $75-85 range. Ted, Jr. hasn’t had the same level of success as his dad, but still has some cool figures. His Mattel Elite Series 10 figure is a favorite with collectors because it comes with a gold briefcase and Million Dollar Belt, usually selling for $30-35.

(3) Curt Hennig and Curtis Axel. “Mr. Perfect” has had toys in WWF/WWE sets from Hasbro, Jakks, and Mattel and WCW toys from OSFTM and Toy Biz, but his first figure was included in the second series of Remco’s AWA line in 1986. Hennig was packaged as one of “Gagne’s Raiders” with Greg Gagne, complete with removable camouflage gear. The Hennig figures aren’t particularly easy to find, but still sell for less than $10 each. Axel only has one figure to date, from the 16th series of Battle Packs. It has been increasing in value since he returned to TV as the newest “Paul Heyman guy,” with recent auctions ending as high as $77.77.

(2) “Cowboy” Bob Orton and Randy Orton. As Roddy Piper’s bodyguard, “the Ace” was a big part of the Hulk Hogan-era WWF. His first figure was included in the fourth series of WWF Wrestling Superstars from LJN, complete with cowboy hat. Randy Orton has been arguably the second biggest star of the last decade, and has more Mattel action figures than everyone else except John Cena. One of his coolest figures is the Kmart exclusive Tribute to the Troops figure, which has a fully bearded Orton in red tights, blue boots and a removable military vest.

(1) Dusty Rhodes, Goldust, and Cody Rhodes. Dusty Rhodes’s polka dot days aren’t remembered too fondly by wrestling purists, but his first action figure is one of the most valuable from Hasbro’s WWF line. The Dusty Rhodes toy from the second series is very difficult to find packaged, usually selling for several hundred dollars. Goldust’s only Elite figure from Mattel – released in Series 6 – is a key figure that sometimes sells for as much as $100. Cody has had several cool figures, and collectors are anticipating his mustachioed Battle Packs 23 figure set to be released this June.
