In Brief: As a child, Jennifer Blake bought wrestling cards at trading card shows. Today, she's looking for one last autograph - and signing a few of her own.

Don’t let her good looks fool you – Jennifer Blake is no swimsuit model who plays a wrestler on TV.

After all, how many U.S. wrestlers – male or female – count an autograph from Mitsuharu Misawa among their most prized possessions?

“I have a (Misawa) action figure and his autograph card from Japan,” Blake said in an exclusive interview with PWTorch. “Both pieces mean a lot to me because for me, they are priceless.”

Blake, known to many fans in the U.S. as “Girl Dynamite” from her time in Shimmer, grew up in Canada as a fan of pro wrestling.

“I would go to card shows with my dad, and I would always get wrestling trading cards,” Blake said. “I remember, I always wanted a plush doll but never got one.

“Maybe I’ll add one to my Amazon wish list,” she said with a laugh.

Blake began wrestling in the early 2000s, and has competed for promotions such as Shimmer Women Athletes (as Girl Dynamite) and Wrestlicious (as “the Ice Princess” Autumn Frost). But she’s found her greatest success in Mexico’s AAA promotion, where she joined Konnan’s Legion Extranjera (Foreign Legion) in 2009. There she has wrestled with and against some of the best women wrestlers in the U.S. and Mexico, including Rain, Sexy Star and the Apache sisters. She and Alan Stone held the AAA World Mixed Tag Team Championship for more than a year.

Blake spent most of her time wrestling in Mexico as a heel (ruda), but recently turned babyface (technica) earlier this year.

“Mexicans are really passionate wrestling fans, but after the show they mostly care about getting a picture or an autograph; it doesn't matter if you are a heel or a babyface,” Blake said. “I have always been treated well by the fans.”

Blake interacts with fans at live events and through social media, especially Twitter and Facebook. She’s well known for taking the time to chat, snap pictures and sign autographs with fans. But, there’s one thing she won’t sign, and it’s a fairly common request.

“Children’s arms,” Blake said. “I hate signing them.”

As a fan and collector of wrestling memorabilia herself, Blake understands the fans who want to own a piece of their favorite wrestlers. She’s got several ring-worn items for sale on DynamiteWrestling.com, including corsets, boots, a top, and an entire outfit. Fans can also download photos and videos of some of Blake’s favorite matches from that site, some of which are free.

“I figure it’s a good way to give back to my fans and give them the opportunity to own a piece of my wrestling history,” Blake said.

Wrestling fans aren’t the only ones in Mexico who are passionate about wrestling memorabilia. One AAA referee asked Blake for a hair extension that fell out during a match.

“He is a big collector of everything: wrestling posters, wrestling gear and memorabilia ever since he was a child,” Blake said. “I gave it to him, along with one of my outfits.”

Today the woman who collected wrestling cards and longed for a wrestling plush doll as a child is trying to wrap up an autograph quest of her own.

“I am getting the AAA video game (Heroes del Ring) signed by everyone for my brother,” Blake said. “Dr. Wagner is the last one I need to sign it.”
