In Brief: Stores like Wal-Mart and Target are selling selected wrestling toys at 50 percent off.

If you’ve got a few extra bucks to spend after the holidays, head to your local retail store for some great clearance deals.

On December 26, retail giants like Wal-Mart, Target, and Kmart began marking down leftover toys. A week later, there are plenty of good deals still out there.

Wal-Mart has marked down quite a few wrestling toys by 50 percent, including an exclusive Mattel WWE Ringside Battle playset that was just released in November. The package includes a standard Mattel ring and figures of John Cena and Alberto Del Rio, along with several accessories, including a gurney, stop sign, ladder, chair, and more. The playset was originally being sold for $25, which was a pretty good deal in itself. But if your local Wal-Mart still has some in stock, you’ll be able to pick them up for $12.50. Given that basic Mattel figures run $9.99 each, getting this entire package for $12.50 is pretty astounding, especially if you’re looking for a gift for a young wrestling fan.

From a collectibles standpoint, there probably isn’t much value in the figures. Cena has more figures than any other current WWE wrestler, and Mattel has been cranking out Del Rio figures with little to no variation. But collectors do seem to be interested in the gurney that’s included in the package - it’s selling for $15-20 by itself.

Wal-Mart is clearancing out several WWE Rumblers toys as well. This includes the new Rumblers Rampage toys, which were just released in November. Wal-Mart has already marked them down to $2 each; most figures would normally run you $5-7, with Kane and the Undertaker sometimes commanding $10-15 on the secondary market.

Wal-Mart also carried an exclusive Mattel WWE Rumblers Blast and Bash Battle Ring Playset that came with 10 figures, a ring and accessories. Four of the figures – Sin Cara, Rey Mysterio, Sheamus, and Christian – are exclusive to this playset. It’s a pretty large playset that originally retailed for $49.99, and is now being sold for $24.99.

The WWE Rumblers Money in the Bank playset has been one of the more popular Rumblers toys since it was released earlier in the year. The red Money in the Bank briefcase opens up to reveal a ring, ladder, miniature briefcase and hook to hang it from, along with an exclusive Miz Rumblers figure. The case can also be used to carry up to 10 Rumblers figures. Wal-Mart has marked the Money in the Bank playset down to $11.

If you have a Ross store in your area, make sure to check the toy department; you might find some pretty rare Mattel WWE Elite figures. You can never tell what kinds of items secondary retailers like Ross may carry, but in the last two weeks collectors have reported finding such Elite figures as a Series 9 Kofi Kingston, Series 11 Miz, and John Cena, and, somewhat inexplicably, a Series 18 Jerry Lawler.

Some collectors haven’t even found Series 18 in their regular stores, so how figures from this recent series are winding up discounted at Ross is puzzling. Elite figures typically retail for $16.99, and Ross sells them for about $7.99. Some of these are older figures that sell for $30-40 on the secondary market.
