SUPERSTARS HITS

None: This was a rather lackluster episode of Superstars. The wrestling quality wasn't as good as it usually is. I appreciate the three match formula, but unlike last week when there were two good matches, there were none this week. Shelton Benjamin vs. Zack Ryder was ok until the end (more later). There was a squash match. The main event of Mark Henry vs. Cody Rhodes was just ok. It wasn't bad, but certainly not Hit worthy either. We got an extra video package this week with a recap of the Rey Mysterio vs. Batista feud, along with the replay of the MSG / Raw video that aired on ECW. There just wasn't anything to like about the show.

SUPERSTARS MISSES

Rosa's Distraction: Up until the end of the match, Benjamin vs. Ryder was ok. It wasn't particularly good, but not bad either. However, the lame cell phone angle with Rosa Mendes was bad. Her character is that she is an annoying woman who never shuts up. But, she can't be that stupid as to try to get Ryder's attention during his match because of a cell phone call, or to actually get in the ring during the match to get the phone that she dropped. It was stupid. They are trying to play it up as if she's going to be a distraction one way or another for either Ryder or his opponent in all of his matches. I don't like that as her gimmick as it means his matches will continue to end in similar ways.

Eric Escobar: I'm just not impressed with this guy. In fact, until Vickie Guerrero came out to say "excuse me!" I had forgotten about him. Vickie herself is very memorable, so that says that Escobar has done nothing on his own to make himself stand out with the fans. He strikes me as being very generic. He might be solid in the ring, but who cares? Hearing the announcers idly speculating as to whether their relationship is real, or if Escobar is using Vickie, or if Vickie is using Escobar, or both doesn't really count as story development or character development. He bores me.
