I'm trying to wrap my head around Shelton Benjamin's current character on ECW and...well, I just can't do it. I have no idea what they are doing with him or where he stands. On anything. That may have to do with the constant turns (or semi-turns) he's been doing since arriving in ECW. Consider this:

-He had a brief feud with Yoshi Tatsu, a clear face, when Tatsu and Benjamin debuted on the brand this summer. That would make Shelton a heel, a continuation from "The Gold Standard" Smackdown character.

-After facing the likes of Goldust and Christian, he opened August by getting in the face of Zack Ryder, a heel, on the Abraham Washington Show. They even started a brawl, which one would assume, turned Shelton face. Shelton even went one-on-one with Ryder the next week, solidifying that fact.

-Then, on August 20, he wrestled a Superstars match against face Tyler Reks. That would make Shelton back to a heel, without the turn.

-For some reason, Ryder and Benjamin then tagged together on the August 25 ECW. Benjamin, after the loss, hits Paydirt on his partner. Normally, the one that does the attacking post-match is the heel, but there's no way I could see them turning Ryder face.

-Benjamin faced Ryder AGAIN on the September 1 edition of ECW; it's like the first go-round between these two never happened. Again, it would seem he's a face at this point.

-Just last night, Benjamin teamed with a heel, Sheamus, against Goldust and Tatsu. Shelton stole the pin and then brawled with Sheamus after the match. Again, I think it'd be too early to turn Sheamus into a face, so does this make Shelton a face? Or just brawling with a heel?

This has to be some of the more bizarre short-term booking of a character in recent memory. Benjamin is a guy that could be valuable on the ECW brand, really valuable, but they just don't seem to know what to do with him.
