PARKS BLOG: The Worst Part About The Trump Era... Jun 25, 2009 - 8:15:20 PM
PWTorch VIP members have first-look access to all of Torch Smackdown specialist Greg Parks's latest blogs in the newly upgraded VIP Forum. His blogs are published first in the PWTorch VIP Forum, and Parks interacts with other VIP members and Torch staff and contributors in the blog comments area afterward. Some of Parks's blog entries will be exclusive to the VIP Forum.
I'll admit, The Trump era didn't go as badly as I thought it would, though I acknowledge that I'm in the minority on that opinion. It made for some interesting TV if nothing else, and hearing the Green Bay crowd chant "Donald Trump" was surreal on so many levels. But there is one thing that bothers me about the Trump era...
You know those times on sitcoms or dramas when they spend an entire episode(s) on a storyline and by the end, nothing has changed? That's what happened on Raw this week. Vince bought his brand back and aside from Santina being fired, everything is like it was two weeks ago and they can pretend this thing never happened.
It always annoyed me when other TV shows did this, because it made me feel like I wasted my time on something that didn't even matter in the grand scheme of the show. Trump could return at some point in the distant future to knock billionaire heads with Vince again, but in the near future, life goes on in the Raw brand.
And in the end, for as big of news as the Trump buying Raw thing was, and as much time as WWE spent on their various TV shows beating us over the head with this idea and wasting time by showing video packages of it, even a few days later, it doesn't mean a whole lot. And all of that wasted TV time could have been put to use on something that would have a lasting, meaningful impact on WWE.
