Lucha Underground Report
July 1, 2015
Taped in Los Angeles, Calif.
Episode #34 aired on El Rey Network
Report by Joel Dehnel, PWTorch contributor

The show opened with a video package featuring Chavo Guerrero, Black Lotus (mysterious woman), Texano, Daivari, Drago, and Mil Muertes.

Backstage: Chavo walked into Dario’s office. Chavo said it was time for Dario to fulfill his final request. Dario granted Chavo a title match with Prince Puma that is No DQ. Chavo said he wanted something to be done about Konnan’s cane. Dario replied by saying if Konnan interferes, Chavo automatically wins the title.

Opening credits rolled which brought us to The Temple to begin the show.

Announcers: Matt Striker welcomed the audience to the show. Vampiro hyped a match tonight with Hernandez and Drago. Striker then threw to the ring for the opening contest.

In-ring: Santos introduced Daivari already in the ring with Big Ryck. Next out to the ring was Texano.

1 – DELAVAR DAIVARI (w/Big Ryck) vs. TEXANO

They beat on each other right away to begin the match. Texano gained an advantage with a back body drop, then Daivari escaped the ring. Daivari used Ryck as a shield then ran back into the ring. He caught Texano with a few strikes and put him in the corner. Texano countered, then Ryck tried to trip him and Daivari regained the advantage. Daivari locked on a leg submission and drove his knee into the side of Texano’s leg.

Daivari distracted the referee and Ryck kicked Texano. Daivari put the figure-four leglock on Texano, but the fans got behind Texano and Texano broke the hold. Daivari put Texano into the corner and continued to work the left leg of Texano. Texano got to the top rope and hit a dropkick. Daivari got to his feet and chopped Texano. They went back and forth until Daivari hit a leg lariat. Texano went for a powerbomb, but Daivari countered the move into a faceplant. Ryck stood on the apron with bull rope and Texano super kicked him then power bombed Daivari for the win.

WINNER: Texano at 6:10 with a powerbomb.

Backstage: Puma was training backstage. Konnan told Puma that he should not worry about Chavo. Catrina walked in and said that if Puma wins tonight that he should be concerned with Mil Muertes because he will destroy anyone whichever wrestler stands in his way. Muertes emerged and stood face to face with Puma. He shortly disappeared and Konnan told him that it is all head games and that he should not worry.

Backstage: Konnan was talking to an unidentified person. He told him that he knows that he wants to get his hands on Chavo. He said he knows he wouldn’t challenge Puma unless he had a trick up his sleeve. So he is allowing him the go ahead so that Mexico can get its redemption.

In-ring: Santos introduced Hernandez to the ring. His opponent tonight is Drago.

[Break]

2 – DRAGO vs. HERNANDEZ

Hernandex flexed his muscles, then shoved Drago to the mat. Drago went for a sunset flip then kicked Hernandez. He went for an unsuccessful hurancarana, but hit a dropkick and multiple strikes. Drago went for another huracanrana, then Hernandez powerbombed Drago in the corner. He chopped Drago in the corner. Hernandez carried Drago on his shoulder, then nailed a backbreaker. Hernandez caught Drago again and slammed him.

Drago broke free and kicked Hernandez in the corner. Drago finally landed a huracanrana from the top rope. He then launched Hernandez to the outside and hit a dive. Drago climbed onto the apron and hit a corkscrew dive then brawled with Hernandez outside. Hernandez threw Drago into the ring apron, then grabbed a fan from the audience. He grabbed the belt off the fan, then lashed Drago across the back. Hernandez choked Drago leading to the disqualification.

WINNER: Drago via DQ at 6:43.

Post-match: Hernandez said that the fans do not realize dragons are not real. Drago is just a man and he got his ass whipped. He then challenged anyone in the audience to come in and get their ass beat.

[Break]

Backstage: Chavo was interrupted by Catrina backstage. She told Chavo that if he beats Puma his celebration will be short-lived because Mil Muertes will destroy the man who holds the championship. Muertes appeared, then Chavo said he would see them both at Ultima Lucha.

In-ring: Santos introduced Marty Martinez already in the ring. His opponent tonight is Alberto El Patron.

3 -- AAA Megachampion ALBERTO EL PATRON vs. MARTY "THE MOTH" MARTINEZ

Alberto attacked Marty quickly and beat him down in the corner. He threw Marty in to the corner and beat him down. Alberto slammed Marty and locked in the armbar for a very quick win.

WINNER: Alberto at 0:54.

Post match: Alberto said he knows that Mundo can hear him and he wants to tell him thank you. He said that he thought they were friends, but after he was thrown through the window he woke up. He said that side that woke up is vicious and sadistic and it’s coming to beat him. Messing with Alberto was not only the biggest mistake of his life but also the last.

[Break]

In-ring: Santos introduced the main event challenger Chavo Guerrero to the ring. He was accompanied by The Crew. Next out was Prince Puma with Konnan.

4 – Lucha Underground champion PRINCE PUMA (w/Konnan) vs. CHAVO GUERRERO, JR. (w/The Crew) - No DQ match for the Lucha Underground Championship

They locked up quickly, then Chavo applied a headlock. They traded wristlocks, then Puma went for a pin. Puma hit an armdrag and into an armlock. Chavo pretended to hurt his leg then The Crew began to beat down Puma. Konnan threatened to beat down The Crew, then backed away.

Puma fought back against The Crew, but they hit a devastating DDT, then held down Puma while Chavo climbed the turnbuckle. Konnan called for someone to help. Texano came into the ring and beat The Crew. Puma then hit a 450 splash and retained his belt.

WINNER: Prince Puma at 4:55.

Post-match: Texano told Chavo that Mexico was coming for him.

Backstage: Chavo sat on a bench and Blue Demon came in. He told Chavo not to worry because he doesn’t beat someone who is hurt. Chavo criticized Demon for not being Mexico. Demon then grabbed Chavo and told him that he is indeed Mexico.

FINAL THOUGHTS: This week was more in-line with the high-quality shows Lucha Underground is used to putting out. What I loved most about this show was that Prince Puma had a friend. When he was in peril Konnan had back up and Texano came to save him.

SUMMARY RESULTS: (1) Texano pinned Daivari… (2) Drago defeated Hernandez via DQ… (3) Alberto submitted Marty Martinez… (4) Prince Puma retained the Lucha Underground Title vs. Chavo Guerrero.
