Lucha Underground Report
May 27, 2015
Taped in Los Angeles, Calif.
Episode #29 aired on El Rey Network
Report by Joel Dehnel, PWTorch contributor

The show opened with a video package featuring Mil Muertes, Catrina, Fenix, Hernandez, Prince Puma, Johnny Mundo, and Alberto El Patrón.

Backstage: The mysterious woman was walking backstage and she ran into Chavo Guerrero. Chavo said his grandparents were there when her parents were killed. He said the Guerreros hate the Cuetos as well.

Opening credits rolled which brought us to The Temple to begin the show.

Announcers: Vampiro and Striker hyped the return of Mil Muertes and the Lucha Underground title match.

In-ring: Santos introduced AeroStar already in the ring. Second to the ring was Johnny Mundo.

1 -- AEROSTAR vs. JOHNNY MUNDO

They locked up, then Mundo pushed over AeroStar. Mundo flipped over AeroStar, then beat him down between the ropes. AeroStar came back with a tilt-a-whirl head scissors. He swung around the ropes to kick Mundo then hit a springboard dive. Mundo tripped AeroStar and kicked him down again. He kneed AeroStar to the outside and went for a dive, but AeroStar came in the ring and stopped Mundo and knocked him to the outside.

AeroStar ran for a dive to the outside. He then rolled Mundo back into the ring. They exchanged fists on their feet, then Mundo hit a Russian leg sweep. Mundo continued to dominate AeroStar with forearms. AeroStar broke free and hit a springboard knee. Mundo landed a backbreaker and went for End of the World, but got blocked by AeroStar. Mundo unleashed a fury of strikes, then tossed AeroStar into the turnbuckle. Mundo hit End of the World and it was good for the win.

WINNER: Mundo at 6:34.

Backstage: Vampiro was interviewing Sexy Star, who said Pentagon, Jr. Is a bully. She said she hasn't heard from Super Fly, but she knows he's rehabilitating. She wants to be a role model for young girls. Vampiro said that Dario has approved a re-match between her and Pentagon. She said she's ready for him and to their feud to an end.

In-ring: Santos introduced Hernandez to the ring for the next match. Second out was Prince Puma with Konnan.

2 -- Lucha Underground champion PRINCE PUMA (w/Konnan) vs. HERNANDEZ - LU Championship match

Puma struck Hernandez quickly, but Hernandez threw Puma to the mat. Puma got up quickly and kicked Hernandez to the outside. Puma appeared to be going for a dive, but he did a few back flips instead. Puma hit a codebreaker, then a cross-body. Konnan encouraged the fans to cheer for Puma. Hernandez hit a clothesline and taunted the fans. Hernandez chopped Puma in the corner, then stretched him across the ropes. Hernandez splashed him in the corner, then fell on top of him. Puma went for a sunset flip, then he knocked Hernandez in the head.

But, Hernandez regained his balance and tossed Puma over his head. He stretched Puma on his shoulder then slammed him and went for a pin. Puma went for a cross-body, but Hernandez caught him and hit a sit-down powerbomb. Hernandez went for a Razor's Edge, but Puma escaped, then Hernandez threw him to the outside. Konnan distracted Hernandez, then went to dive on Puma, but he hit him with a chair. Puma then got back in the ring and hit a corkscrew dive.

Hernandez picked up Puma and threw him onto the ring apron. Hernandez tried to throw Puma into the barricade, but Puma landed on top of the barricade and back-flipped off of it onto Hernandez. Back in the ring, Puma landed a 450 splash off the ropes for a nearfall. Puma went to the top rope, but missed his 450 splash, then Hernandez slammed Puma for yet another nearfall.

Puma went for a DDT, but Hernandez slammed him and went for a flying headbutt, but Puma countered by holding up his knees. Puma landed multiple kicks on Hernandez, then went to the top rope, but Hernandez knocked him off balance. Puma pushed off Hernandez and kicked him down. Puma regained balance and hit a 450 Splash for the win.

WINNER: Prince Puma at 12:46 to retain his title.

[Break]

In-ring: Santos introduced the main event of the evening. Fenix was out first to the ring. Second out was Mil Muertes with Catrina and three men in skull masks.

3 -- FENIX vs. MIL MUERTES (w/Catrina) - Death match

Fenix leaped onto Muertes to begin the match. Fenix kicked Muertes and Fenix went for a suicide dive, but he ran into an uppercut by Muertes. Muertes stomped on Fenix and dragged him across the ring. Muertes hit a scoop slam and manhandled Fenix. Muertes went to the top, then Fenix kicked him a walked across the ropes to hit Muertes again. Muertes fell to the outside then Fenix hit a moonsault. Muertes clotheslined Fenix, then hit him across the head with a chair. He continued to lodge the chair into his chest, then rubbed his face into the barricade. Fenix broke free then leaped off the barricade.

Fenix continued to kick Muertes, then Fenix fell to the outside. Muertes leaped off the top rope. He slammed Fenix into the announce table and dragged him to the top of of the temple. Muertes powerbombed Fenix through the roof of the backstage area. The ref tried to knock on the door and check on Fenix leading to break.

[Break]

Back on the air, Striker explained what had happened and we saw multiple replays. The men in skull masks kicked down the door and carried Fenix back to the ring. Muertes hit The Flatliner for the win.

WINNER: Mil Muertes at 12:33 with The Flatliner.

Backstage: Dario asked The Crew if they had anything to say for themselves. He said one of them must pay. The Crew grabbed Bael and held him against the bars towards Dario's brother. Blood splattered across the faces of The Crew. Bael presumably was killed.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Well, It finally happened. Scott Hall once said that you shouldn't say you're going to kill someone because it's not going to happen within a wrestling show and it takes the viewer out of the moment. Well, Dario said The Crew would have to pay if they didn't win and they did. The Crew threw Bael under the bus and he was presumably killed by Dario's brother so, hey, anything is possible now. I guess.

SUMMARY RESULTS: (1) Mundo pinned AeroStar... (2) Prince Puma retained his championship... (3) Mil Muertes beat Fenix.
