Lucha Underground Report
May 20, 2015
Taped in Los Angeles, Calif.
Episode #28 aired on El Rey Network
Report by Joel Dehnel, PWTorch contributor

The show opened with a video package featuring Prince Puma, Hernandez, Dario Cueto, Daivari, Texano, and the trios tag champions.

Opening credits rolled which brought us to The Temple to begin the show.

Announcers: Vampiro welcomed the audience to the show. Matt Striker hyped the trios ladder match later tonight.

In-ring: Santos introduced Marty "The Moth" Martinez (Martin from "Tough Enough") who was already in the ring. (Marty was portrayed as the fan who met with Dario a few weeks back.) His opponent tonight is Prince Puma

1 -- Lucha Underground champion PRINCE PUMA (w/Konnan) vs. MARTY "THE MOTH" MARTINEZ -- non-title match

They shook hands and hugged to start the match. Marty took Puma by surprise with a clothesline. He then put Puma in the corner and laid down a fury of strikes. Puma got to his feet to fight back, but was shortly taken out by a dropkick. Puma finally hit a springboard kick to take control. Marty took out Puma with a stiff kick. He went to the top rope and missed a moonsault. Puma hit a roundhouse kick and a powerbomb. Puma went to the top rope and hit a 630 splash for the win.

WINNER: Prince Puma at 3:49.

Post-match: Hernandez walked out and Konnan confronted him. Konnan said if Hernandez wants a shot at the title he can come in the ring and fight Puma. Hernandez walked towards the ring, then backed off.

[Break]

Backstage: Vampiro interviewed Johnny Mundo. Vampiro recalled the events between Mundo and El Patrón, then asked Mundo why he stuck El Patrón through the window. Mundo said he did what did to make a statement. Vampiro asked Mundo if he's jealous of Alberto. Mundo said that he feels Patrón is over-rated and over-paid. Mundo said he is the biggest star in LU.

Backstage: Dario said that in order to please the gods there must be human sacrifice. He told The Crew that tonight they will win the Trios Titles and make a sacrifice of the champions and if they don't the gods will be angered. He said that if they don't, he knows someone who will have no trouble sacrificing them.

[Break]

In-ring: Santos introduced Delavar Daivari already in the ring. His opponent tonight is Texano.

2 -- DELAVAR DAIVARI vs. TEXANO

Daivari stomped down Texano. Texano got to his feet and hit a series of clotheslines and beat down Daivari in the corner. Daivari dropped Texano on the mat, then continued to work his left arm. Texano went for a dropkick off the top, but missed. Daivari went to the top and Texano hit a superplex from the middle rope. They then traded strikes back and forth until Texano leaped onto Daivari. Daivari got up and German Suplexed Texano, but fell into a codebreaker. Suddenly, Big Ryck came to the corner and clotheslined Texano for the DQ.

WINNER: Texano via DQ at 3:53.

Post-match: Ryck and Daivari beat down Texano. They then forced the referee to count to three while Daivari covered him.

Backstage: A mysterious hand tapped on Dario in his office. The hand then grabbed at Dario's key. It was revealed to be Catrina. She said that Mil Muertes will return being even more powerful. Dario booked the match for next week between Fenix and Muertes in a death match.

The mysterious woman was shown walking away from the temple. She said she was ready to fulfill her destiny and kill the brother of Dario Cueto. Her trainer was shown reading a book, then Chavo Guerrero appeared in the distance.

[Break]

Backstage: Chavo was talking to the masked trainer. He said he would protect the woman if his debt was cleared.

In-ring: Santos introduced the main event. First to the ring was The Crew. Ivelisse, Son of Havoc, and Angélico came to the ring after the break.

[Break]

3 -- Lucha Underground Trios Tag champions IVELISSE & SON OF HAVOC & ANGÉLICO vs. THE CREW (BAEL & MR. CISCO & CORTEZ CASTRO) - Trios Tag Championship ladder match

The champions were ambushed upon their entrance and the match began. Ivelisse was on crutches and tried to avoid the action. Havoc and Angélico tried to fight back and cleared the ring. Bael attacked Ivelisse from behind, though. Castro and Cisco kicked down Havoc as he tried to get a ladder. Angélico leaped onto Castro and Bael while they held a ladder. Cisco kicked Havoc through the ropes. Angélico kicked Cisco, then set up the ladder, but The Crew came in and took out Angélico. They set up a ladder in Angélico's crotch then slammed the ladder into him with a chair.

Bael set up a table in the ring and The Crew brought Havoc into the ring and beat him down. But, Havoc took out The Crew with a spurt of energy and threw Bael into the ladder. Havoc grabbed the ladder and set it up in the middle of the ring. The Crew stopped Havoc and Cisco stomped his back, though. Cisco went to climb the ladder, but was shortly stopped by Angélico. So, The Crew took out Angélico and Cisco grabbed the board from Dario's office and beat down Angélico. By the way, Dario was seen in his office on the phone.

Angélico was set on a table, but Cisco fell off a ladder and into Dario's office. Angélico climbed the ladder to the top of Dario's office. Castro then struck Angélico with a cane from behind. Cisco dove through the window and onto Havoc. The Crew were in the ring all by themselves and set up another ladder. They kicked down Havoc, but he fought back and climbed the ladder. The Crew tried to tip him over, but he regained his balance and hit a moonsault off the ropes and beat down The Crew with chair shots to the head.

Bael was set up on a table and Havoc climbed to the top and pushed Cisco of the side and through a table. Havoc went for the Shooting Star Press, but botched the move and missed the table. Cisco went to climb the ladder, then Angélico made another giant leap and kicked him off the ladder. Ivelisse went to climb the ladder and Cisco tried to stop her, but she bit his hand. Ivelisse ripped a belt off the top to win the match.

WINNERS: Ivelisse & Son of Havoc & Angélico at 14:05 to retain the Trios Tag Titles.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Solid show with some good action. There were a lot of developments with the mysterious woman. I hope that we are getting close to paying off that storyline because it has been going on for a long time now.

SUMMARY RESULTS: (1) Prince Puma pinned The Moth... (2) Texano beat Daivari via DQ... (3) Ivelisse & Son of Havoc & Angelico retained the Trios Tag Titles.
