Lucha Underground Report
April 29, 2015
Taped in Los Angeles, Calif.
Episode #25 aired on El Rey Network
Report by Joel Dehnel, PWTorch contributor

The show opened with a video package featuring Trios Tournament matches from past weeks and Drago. Opening credits rolled which brought us to The Temple to begin the show.

Backstage: Drago was with The Crew. He confronted them about not getting the job done. He said he has some real motivation for the. They walked into a room and saw a cage. Dario said it was his brother and they can apologize to him.

Announcers: Matt Striker introduced the viewing audiences to the show. He discussed the main event of Drago vs. Puma with Vampiro.

In-ring: Santos introduced Fenix for the opening contest. Next out was Killshot.

1 -- KILLSHOT vs. FENIX

Fenix put Killshot in a wristlock until Killshot reversed. Fenix hit a dropkick, then went for a dive, but held back. Fenix then landed a huracanrana. Killshot recovered and hit a dropkick followed by a corkscrew to the outside. Killshot went for a springboard, but Fenix ducked, then had a slapping fight. Killshot caught Fenix off a DDT and landed a suplex.

Fenix kicked Killshot, but Killshot hit a neckbreaker following the sequence. Killshot got to his feet and lifted up Fenix for a backbreaker on his knees, but Fenix kicked Killshot in the corner. Killshot lifted Fenix onto the top rope and went for a belly-to-belly, but Fenix rolled through. Killshot hit a superkick, then went to the top. Fenix caught him and hit a piledriver for the win.

WINNER: Fenix at 5:59.

Backstage: Dario confronted Drago. He told Drago that he had never said thank you after giving him his opportunity. He said he knew Drago was upset about the stipulation, but Drago has survived many times. Dario said he doesn't have to thank him now, but after tonight he may want to.

Backstage: Dario walked in on Puma lacing up his boots. Dario said he knows he has second thoughts about ending Drago's career. He said that warriors think of nothing but victory.

Dario ran into Hernandez. He told Hernandez that his three-way match later tonight was for the number one contender for the LU title. Puma was listening on and looked down in disappointment.

In-ring: Santos introduced the next match as four-way. All competitors were already in the ring and announced in this order: Famous B, Ricky Mandel, Vinny Massaro, and Argenis. Vampiro noted that all of these men were victims on Pentagon, Jr.

2 -- FAMOUS B vs. RICKY MANDEL vs. VINNY MASSARO vs. ARGENIS -- Four-way match

All men started brawling until Texano came out and took out everyone in sight. Texano said he doesn't know who put their hands on him, but he challenges them to come to the temple and receive the beating of their life.

WINNER: No winner announced at 0:12. Texano attacked Famous B first, so I suppose he wins via DQ. These finishes need to be addressed. They cannot fall into forgetting or not caring about announcing a finish no matter how short the match is.

Backstage: Dario walked outside. He was met by someone who appeared to be a fan wearing an Aztec Pride t-shirt. The fan said he had been waiting outside to met Dario. He introduced himself as Marty 'The Moth' Martinez and said he wanted to be apart of the show. Dario said the temple is open to anyone, but he would be crushed. Dario walked away and locked a gate to keep out the fan.

[Break]

In-ring: Santos introduced: King Cuerno, Cage, and Hernandez. All of them were already in the ring.

3 -- HERNANDEZ vs. CAGE vs. KING CUERNO - #1 contender match to the LU Title

Cage and Cuerno beat down Hernandez. They landed a double suplex, moonsault, and a splash. Cage tried to roll up Cuerno, but Cuerno reversed it. They got back on the same page and superkicked Hernandez, then German-suplexed him. Hernandez kicked them both, then hit a clothesline. Cuerno chopped Hernandez, but Cage kicked Hernandez to prevent a powerbomb.

Cage and Cuerno continued to work together against Hernandez. Hernandez slammed Cuerno then came toe-to-toe with Cage. The crazed fan from the previous segment ran into the ring and was beaten down. Hernandez dropkicked Cage, then slammed Cuerno for the win.

WINNER: Hernandez at 4:55 to become #1 contender to the Lucha Underground Title.

[Break]

Video Package: Vampiro interviewed Angélico, Ivelisse, and Son of Havoc. Ivelisse said it feels great to be Trios champion. She said after she became team captain they won. Havoc disagreed and thought he was captain. Angélico said his cross-body was important. Angélico talked about winning being a highlight but outside the ring things aren't better. They all bickered with each other and Vampiro closed it out.

In-ring: Santos introduced the main event for the LU championship. She said if Drago loses, he can no longer compete in Lucha Underground. Drago was first out to the ring. Next out was Prince Puma with Konnan.

[Break]

4 -- Lucha Underground champion PRINCE PUMA (w/Konnan) vs. DRAGO - Lucha Underground Championship match

Both men shook hands. Puma finally hit a huracanrana after an exchange of moves. But, Drago knocked Puma out of the ring, then hit a corkscrew to the outside. Drago chopped Puma in the corner. Puma tried to fight back after Drago threw him in the corner, then Puma ducked a dive and hit a springboard dropkick. Drago fell to the outside and Puma dove onto him. Puma hit another springboard dive and went for a pin.

Puma lifted Drago onto his back and stretched him, then slammed him. Drago superkicked Puma, then hit a corkscrew from the top. Drago hit a clothesline and a shoulder block, then a drop toehold into a submission. Puma got to the ropes to break the hold. Puma dropped Drago for a pin attempt, then jumped onto him.

Puma tried to kick Drago, but Drago hit a reverse huracanrana for a nearfall. Puma landed a right hand, then exchanged blows with Drago until he was slammed. 'This is Awesome' chants broke out. Puma kicked Drago, then picked him up and knocked over the ref. Drago hit a piledriver, but there was no ref. Hernandez, the new #1 contender, then ran into the ring and hit Drago. Puma was resistant to beat Drago this way, but he still picked up Drago for a piledriver to retain his championship.

WINNER: Prince Puma at 10:27.

Post-match: Puma comforted Drago, but was upset about Hernandez's interference. The fans chanted for Drago and thanked him for all he has done.

Backstage: Drago walked out back to find Dario. They looked at each other then Drago walked behind a curtain which went up in flames.

FINAL THOUGHTS: So I guess Texano is a babyface now after interrupting a match and beating up four innocent wrestlers who were recovering from broken arms (groan & sigh). LU cannot fall into a pattern where some finishes do not matter and someone is cheered for beating up innocent wrestlers. ... Lots of really good backstage segments tonight. Dario has really fit into his character well without over doing the heel authority figure. Nice send-off for Drago as fans were genuinely upset to see him go for the time-being.

SUMMARY RESULTS: (1) Fenix pinned Killshot... (2) No finish announced after Texano interference... (3) Hernandez beat King Cuerno and Cage... (4) Prince Puma retained his championship against Drago, who must leave Lucha Underground.
