Lucha Underground Report
April 1, 2015
Taped in Los Angeles, Calif.
Episode #21 aired on El Rey Network
Report by Joel Dehnel, PWTorch contributor

The show opened with a video package featuring The Crew, Big Ryck, Sexy Star, AeroStar, and Pentagon Jr. Opening credits rolled which brought us to The Temple to begin the show.

Backstage: Big Ryck entered Dario's office with some partners, including The Mack (Willie Mack). Ryck confronted Dario about The Crew. Dario said he is starting a Trios Tag championship tonight. He offered Ryck a chance to enter the tournament. Ryck accepted, then Dario gave money to him and his partners.

Announcers: Vampiro welcomed the audience to the show. Striker explained the Trios Tag tournament which will take place over the next four weeks.

In-ring: Melissa Santos introduced Angélico already in the ring. His opponent tonight is Johnny Mundo.

1 -- ANGÉLICO vs. JOHNNY MUNDO

Mundo flipped over Angélico, but couldn't maintain control. Both men traded moves back and forth. Angélico fell to the outside, then Mundo went for a corkscrew, but didn't connect. Mundo kicked Angélico to knock him down, then attempt a pin. Mundo landed multiple kicks, then went for the End of the World, but Angélico lured Johnny into the corner and tried a few pins. Mundo tried to gained leverage until Angélico stomped him. Knee strikes back and forth then Mundo hit a springboard kick.

Mundo went for a flip, but missed then Angélico followed up with a knee. Angélico threw Mundo into the corner then went for a pin. Angélico went for the Fall of the Angels again, but Mundo escaped onto the top rope. Angélico climbed up, but Mundo threw him off, then hit a corkscrew for the win.

WINNER: Mundo at 7:45.

[Break]

Video: The mysterious woman returned in a montage overview of what has happened to her. She said the man who took her was El Dragon Azteca. She said he was there when her parents were slaughtered by a monster. Now El Dragon is training her to avenge her parents's death.

Backstage: Alberto El Patrón congratulated Mundo on his win tonight. They shook hands. Mundo said he was the face of Lucha Underground where Alberto works now. Alberto said exactly, then walked away.

Video: Sexy Star was in Dario's office, Dario said he had partners for Star tonight. The first is Super Fly and the second is Pentagon, Jr. Dario said with Pentagon by her side, this could be her big break.

In-ring: Santos introduced Drago to the ring. Next out was AeroStar.

[Break]

2 -- DRAGO vs. AEROSTAR -- Match #4 in Best of Five Series

Drago superkicked AeroStar to set the pace. He kicked Star and dominated him in the corner. Star dropkicked Drago, then charged him in the corner. Drago fell to the outside, then Star hit a front flip. Star hit a springboard sunset flip, then a dive. Star went for an inside cradle, then a crucifix.

Drago took control and put Star in a submission. Star got to the ropes, then got knocked to ringside. He crawled back inside, then Drago knocked him down. Drago slammed Star, then went up top. He hit a corkscrew, then backdropped Star. He rolled up Star for the pin. The series is now split.

WINNER: Drago at 4:28 to even the series at 2-2.

[Break]

Backstage: Angélico, Ivelisse, and Son of Havoc were in Dario's office. Dario said they don't have good singles careers so they have been put together for the trios tournament. Havoc said for the record he dumped Ivelisse.

In-ring: Santos introduced the main event of the evening. First out was the trio of Big Ryck, The Mack, and Killshot. Next out was the trio of Sexy Star, Super Fly, and then Pentagon, Jr. Pentagon said he spoke to his master and even though he was given new partners, he will win the trios tag championship himself.

[Break]

3 -- BIG RYCK & KILLSHOT & THE MACK vs. SEXY STAR & SUPER FLY & PENTAGON, JR. -- Trios Tag Tournament match

Mack started the match with Pentagon. They both flipped around a lot until Pentagon dropkicked Mack. He chopped Mack in the corner, then kicked him down. Mack flew into Pentagon, then backed him into the corner. Pentagon countered Mack, then hit a backbreaker. Killshot tagged in along with Super Fly. Killshot tossed Fly, then Fly hip-tossed Killshot. He tagged in Sexy Star and she secured a headlock. Killshot took advantage with a chop, then Star tossed him with a huracanrana. Ryck grabbed Star, then threw her to the outside.

Ryck ordered Killshot and Mack to dive on the outside. Star went to the top rope and hit a cross-body on Ryck. Pentagon attacked Ryck, but Ryck took him down. Pentagon and Killshot came face-to-face in the ring. They traded kicks until Killshot planted Pentagon. Pentagon dropped Killshot and went for a pin. He followed it up with a superkick, then a hard chop.

Pentagon launched Star onto Killshot for a huracanrana, then dove on Super Fly. Ryck slammed Fly, but Pentagon broke up the pin. Ryck tossed Pentagon to the outside and clotheslined him. Mack hit a brainbuster on Fly, then a stomp from Killshot got the win.

WINNER: Ryck & Mack & Killshot at 10:58.

Post-match: Pentagon tried to break Super Fly's arm, but Sexy Star broke it up.

FINAL THOUGHTS: This show felt like they hit the refresh button after an abundance of gimmicked blow off matches. I'm interested to see how this tournament turns out because it could be really good or sour out really quick if The Crew wins it all. Also, LU really needs to implement replays in their shows. A lot of the action happens so fast that it is easy to miss something.

SUMMARY RESULTS: (1) Johnny Mundo pinned Agélico... (2) Drago beat AeroStar to tie their series... (3) Big Ryck & The Mack & Killshot advanced in the Trios Tag Tournament.
