Lucha Underground Report
March 4, 2015
Taped in Los Angeles, Calif.
Episode #17 aired on El Rey Network
Report by Joel Dehnel, PWTorch contributor

Announcers: Matt Striker and Vampiro.

The show opened with a video package featuring Alberto El Patrón, Catrina, and The Crew. Opening credits rolled which brought us to The Temple to begin the show.

Backstage: Alberto was backstage with Dario. Dario said that tonight would be Alberto's debut and he would be facing Ricky Mandell. Alberto refused the offer and declared that he wanted El Texano, Jr. Dario revised his opponent and switched it to Famous B. Patrón slammed his hand on the table and said Texano. Dario said that a match like that would take two weeks to promote. Dario gave a third opponent and Alberto again disagreed and requested Texano. Dario said it does sound like the making of a great main event and tonight is going to be a historic night. Alberto thanked Dario and left his office.

Announcers: Vampiro welcomed the audience to the show. Striker said we will see Alberto El Patrón vs. Texano for the first time in the United States.

In-ring: Santos introduced Mil Muertes for the opening contest. His opponent tonight is Fenix.

1 -- MIL MUERTES vs. FENIX

Fenix jumped on Muertes and hit a huracanrana. Muertes kicked Fenix, but Fenix flipped over. Fenix hit a springboard in the ring and tried to Irish whip Muertes, but Muertes beat down Fenix with some elbows and chops. Muertes hit a fireman's carry into a neckbreaker for a two count.

Muertes applied a chinlock, then shoulder-blocked Fenix. Meanwhile, Catrina walked down the aisle towards the ring. Muertes was briefly distracted and Fenix began to make his comeback. Fenix hit the Bird of War onto Muertes on the outside. Muertes slammed Fenix against the mat. Both men entered the ring and Fenix hit a Diamond Cutter. Fenix went to the top, but Muertes slammed him off the top. Muertes then hit The Flatliner for the victory.

WINNER: Mil Muertes at 5:46 with The Flatliner.

Post-match: Catrina got on the ring apron and locked eyes with Muertes. She shook her head at him, then Muertes grabbed her by the throat and threw her into the corner. Fenix grabbed Muertes's stone and clubbed him followed by a kick. Catrina crawled onto Muertes and licked his chest. Fenix walked over to Catrina and gave her a huge kiss.

Vingette: Video package aired on Konnan and how he will get revenge on Cage.

Backstage: Ivelisse was in Dario's office claiming that she should be the number one contender. Dario said if she wants to prove herself then she will face Angélico next week with Son of Havoc as special referee. Ivelisse grabbed Havoc's beard and left the room.

Video: Puma was training on a punching bag until Alberto interrupted him. Alberto said he doesn't know what Konnan told Puma to motivate him, but in order to survive, Puma needs to man up. Because next time Puma sees Cage, he will need to let out his aggression. Alberto then told Puma to pay close attention to his match tonight because if Puma holds onto that title, he'll be coming after it.

[Break]

In-ring: Santos announced that the upcoming match was to determine who would get a three-on-one match against The Crew. Already in the ring was Big Ryck. His opponent tonight is Sexy Star.

2 -- BIG RYCK vs. SEXY STAR

Star pushed Ryck and threw some forearms. She landed a dropkick, but couldn't get Ryck off his feet. Ryck ran into the corner, then Star hit a cross-body. Ryck threw her off and Star escaped the ring. She came back into the ring and Ryck grabbed her shoulder and lifted her up for a big slam, but instead placed her on the mat. He held down her shoulders for the win.

WINNER: Big Ryck at 1:53.

Post-match: The Crew stormed ringside and attacked Ryck from behind. Star tried to help Ryck by jumping on members of The Crew, but she fell victim to some devastating moves. The Crew tried to push the kendo stick into Ryck's eye, but Ryck escaped and hit a double clothesline. Ryck took off his eye patch and taunted The Crew.

[Break]

In-ring: Santos introduced the main event. First to the ring was Alberto El Patrón. A video package aired giving a brief history of Alberto El Patrón. Texano was out next.

[Break]

3 -- AAA Megachampion ALBERTO EL PATRÓN vs. TEXANO -- non-title match

Both men locked up in the corner. They separated briefly then Texano put on a side headlock. Alberto hit a hip toss, then Texano rolled to the outside. Alberto chased him, then was met with a boot to the face. Texano landed a few right hands followed by a suplex. Alberto fought back with a forearm and huracanrana. Alberto mounted Texano in the corner and pounded on Texano. Texano kicked Alberto, then Alberto tossed Texano to the outside and followed it up with a suicide dive. Texano threw Alberto into the barricade then into the ringpost.

Texano rolled Alberto back into the ring and put him in a chinlock. Alberto dove off the ropes into Texano and was met with a dropkick. Alberto tried to fight back, but Texano maintained control. Texano climbed to the top rope, but Alberto tripped him. Alberto climbed up to the top and hit a superplex. They traded blows back and forth. Alberto got in some clotheslines followed by a backbreaker and a backstabber. Alberto missed a superkick and Texano hit a spinebuster.

Texano set up Alberto on the top rope, then kicked Alberto in the head. Texano took off the turnbuckle to distract the referee, then he took a bullrope and beat down Alberto. On the top rope, Alberto fought back, then stomped on Texano's chest. Alberto signaled for the armbar, but Texano countered with a powerbomb for a two count.

Moments later, Alberto drove his knees into Texano's arm then superkicked him. Texano grabbed the bullrope and went for an attack. Alberto countered and hit a DDT. Alberto then grabbed Texano's rope and beat him down for a DQ.

WINNER: Texano at 12:20 via DQ.

Backstage: King Cuerno was in Dario's office. Cuerno said that Mundo should be careful what he wishes for because next week he will face him in a cage match, then mount his head on the wall.

FINAL THOUGHTS: I was very excited to see Alberto vs. Texano, but as Dario said in the opening segment, he would need at least two weeks to promote a match between the two. So, the result was a DQ finish. I was fine with that because there wasn't any build. Last week, there was a draw in the main event, so this week I thought there would be a clean finish. It's not a big deal, but I hope it doesn't become a pattern.

SUMMARY RESULTS: (1) Mil Muertes beat Fenix with The Flatliner... (2) Big Ryck pinned Sexy Star... (3) Texano beat Alberto El Patron via disqualification.
