Lucha Underground Report
January 14, 2015
Taped in Los Angeles, Calif.
Episode #10 aired on El Rey Network
Report by Joel Dehnel, PWTorch contributor

Announcers: Matt Striker and Vampiro.

Lucha Underground opened with a video package recalling the events of the past week including Blue Demon, Jr. and Prince Puma winning Aztec Warfare to become the Lucha Underground champion.

Backstage: Cueto was talking to Fenix and said that he is an honest man. He named off many accomplishments of Fenix. He said he say many big things for Fenix in the future. Tonight he is giving him another chance at the championship; he must take the title and embarrass Puma and Konnan, otherwise someone else will. The scene ended with a shot of the mysterious woman.

Opening credits rolled before they entered The Temple to begin the show.

Announcers: Striker introduced the show and told us what to expect tonight.

In-ring: Santos introduced the upcoming match as a four-way elimination. Order of entrances: AeroStar, Argenis, Angélico, and Cage (Brian Cage).

1 -- AEROSTAR vs. ARGENIS vs. CAGE vs. ANGÉLICO -- Four-Way Elimination match

Cage whipped all men out of the ring to start. They then all started to beat on Cage and eventually knocked him down. Argenis beat down Angelico, then AeroStar hit a huracanrana on Argenis. Angélico knocked Argenis off the apron. Cage then hit a clothesline and reverse neckbreaker on Angélico.

Cage with a super-superplex on Argenis, then he caught AeroStar in mid-air for a suplex. Argenis hit a moonsault to Cage on the outside. AeroStar followed it with a springboard to the outside, then a dive by Angélico. AeroStar hit a huracanrana on Angelico, then Argenis got his face planted by Cage and was eliminated. Cage threw AeroStar into Angélico and eliminated him. Cage then hit a clothesline on Angélico for the win.

WINNER: Cage at 6:01.

Post-match: Cage said they call him Cage because he's not a man, he's a machine.

[Break]

In-ring: Chavo Guerrero was sitting in the middle of the ring. He said two months ago he made a mistake by ruining his friendship with Blue Demon. He said he wants to issue an apology to Blue Demon's face. Demon came in the ring and sat in the chair across Chavo. Chavo said he was sorry for not exposing him for the fraud he is and not ripping the mask off his face and replacing it with a mask of blood.

Chavo ran at Demon with brass knuckles, but Demon took him down. Demon punched and kicked Chavo until he grabbed a chair. He then smashed Chavo across the head with the chair. Demon flipped the bird at Chavo, which was blurred out on TV.

[Break]

In-ring: Santos introduced King Cuerno to the ring. Second out was Drago.

2 -- DRAGO vs. KING CUERNO

Drago flipped Cuerno for a quick pin attempt. Cuerno kicked Drago to the outside followed by a front flip dive to the outside. Cuerno grabbed a table from under the ring, then dragged Drago back into the ring. Drago dropkicked Cuerno to the outside followed by a corkscrew dive to the outside. Drago dodged a chair shot and superkicked Cuerno onto the table. Drago went to the top of the arena and dove onto Cuerno through the table.

WINNER: Draw via Double Count out at 3:20.

[Break]

Announcers: Vampiro hyped the main event, then threw to a video package of Fenix.

In-ring: Santos introduced Fenix to the ring. Second out was the champion, Prince Puma.

[Break]

3 -- Lucha Underground champion PRINCE PUMA vs. FENIX -- Lucha Underground Championship match

Puma and Fenix shook hands. They flipped around each trying to gain leverage. Puma went to dive on Fenix, but was kicked in the head. Fenix then hit a dropkick from the top rope. Puma hit a suicide dive to the outside. Fenix cut him off with a dropkick followed by a dive to the outside. Fenix threw Puma around the ring and into the corners, but Puma responded with a standing moonsault.

Puma put Fenix in a bow & arrow crucifix into a roll-up. But, Fenix countered Puma with a big kick to the head. Fenix hit a neckbreaker off the springboard. Puma hit a nice kick followed by a kick to the chest and a standing Shooting Star Press. Puma hit a vertical suplex, then went to the top rope for a corkscrew, which Fenix rolled out of the way of. Fenix then hit a German Suplex before going to the top and hitting a 450 splash for a two count only. Puma nailed a piledriver on Fenix in response, then Puma hit a 450 splash for the win.

WINNER: Prince Puma at 12:14 to retain the title.

Post-match: Cage ran out to the ring and beat down Prince Puma. He finished him off with a devastating clothesline and a series of powerbombs.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Another solid show of Lucha Underground. It felt like a restart with the credits being done in arena now and the four new stars. I'm glad to see the Cage was treated like a big deal coming in and it appears that he will be feuding with Puma next... LU is continuing to get things right by using Booking 101 of making their champion and babyfaces look strong and getting heat on heels by making them despicable cheaters.

SUMMARY RESULTS: (1) Cage won the 4-way elimination in devastating fashion. ... (2) Drago and King Cuerno were both counted out of the ring for a draw. ... (3) Prince Puma defeated Fenix to retain the Lucha Underground Championship.
