Lucha Underground Report
November 12, 2014
Taped in Los Angeles, Calif.
Episode #3 aired on El Rey Network
Report by Joel Dehnel, PWTorch contributor

Announcers: Matt Striker and Vampiro.

Lucha Underground opened with a video package recalling the events of the past two weeks involving Chavo Guerrero.

Opening credits rolled which brought us to The Temple to begin the show.

Backstage: Konnan was talking to Dario about how he is bringing in new luchadors. He said that they will fight tonight. Dario said he would take his best three fighters and put them against Konnan's.

Announcers: Striker and Vampiro gave an update on Blue Demon's injury from last week.

[JD's Reax: I'm glad that they took the time to do something as simple as to giving us an update on Blue Demon. Maybe WWE can take note on that.]

In-ring: The announcer introduced Dario to the ring. Dario said that people were complaining about a lack of lucha in the promotion. He said that he listens to the fans and will give them what they want. He then introduced El Mariachi Loco. Dario said that he plays a mean trumpet and is great in the ring.

Mascarita Sagrada was introduced as his opponent and made his way to the ring.

1 -- MASCARITA SAGRADA vs. EL MARIACHI LOCO

Loco laughed at Sagrada because he is a smaller wrestler. Loco got on his knees to the height of Sagrada. Sagrada kicked Loco in the head and gave him a tilt-a-whirl head scissors. Sagrada arm dragged Loco to the outside then dove onto him threw the ropes. Back in the ring, Loco kicked over Sagrada. The then tossed him around the ring like a rag doll. Loco hit a side slam and went for a pin but pulled up Sagrada's shoulder. He continued to dominate and taunt Sagrada. He then went the top rope for a Senton bomb but Sagrada moved. Sagrada hit a DDT, but got the pin with a small package.

WINNER: Mascarita Sagrada at 4:40 with a small package.

After the match, Chavo came out to beat down Sagrada.

[Break]

A short video package aired highlighting Chavo's attacks.

They then cut to a pre-recorded interview between Vampiro and Chavo. Chavo said that he's continuing the Guerrero legacy his way. Vampiro asked Chavo why he turned on Blue Demon. Chavo said he was upset that Demon is living off his father's legacy. He said that he wants to become a big star here in Lucha Underground. Chavo said he would tell Demon that he is better than him and to watch out.

[Break]

Backstage: Chavo met up with Konnan. Konnan said that people are upset about what he did to Demon and that Chavo should leave Lucha Underground. Chavo then turned around and stared down Mil Muertes. Catrina then told Chavo that someday he will meet Mil Muertes and continued to lick his face.

In ring: The announcer introduced Ricky Mandel for his upcoming match. Mil Muertes and Catrina then made their way to the ring. A short video package aired giving back story to Mil Muertes.

2 -- RICKY MANDEL vs. MIL MUERTES (w/Catrina)

Muertes threw Mandel across the ring. Mandel landed a few kicks until he was Speared by Muertes. Muertes chopped Mandel in all corners and stomped him on the ground. Mandel dodged Muertes and landed a drop kick. He went to the top rope but was caught by Muertes with an upper cut. Muertes then hit the flatliner for the pin.

WINNER: Mil Muertes at 2:38.

Backstage: Johnny Mundo ran into Cortez and Cisco outside Dario's office. They brawled outside until Mundo was victorious. He then requested a match with Big Ryck for next week. He said once he's done with Ryck, Dario is next.

[Break]

Backstage: Dario gave Big Ryck a wad of cash to take out Mundo next week.

Announcers: Striker and Vampiro briefly discussed Prince Puma. A short video packaged aired about his career so far.

In-ring: The announcer introduced the main event as a three-way match. The first to the ring was Drago. Next to the ring was Pentagon, Jr. And last to the ring was Fenix.

[Break]

3 -- DRAGO vs. PENTAGON, JR. vs. FENIX

Pentagon dove outside the ring onto Drago and Fenix. Drago was then tossed to the outside onto Pentagon. Then Fenix jumped off the top rope for a cork screw onto Pentagon and Drago. Drago and Fenix made their way to the ring. Drago hit a DDT and Pentagon hit a side slam on Drago. Fenix and Pentagon were in the ring together and Fenix hit a flurry of moves. Drago came into the ring and took out Fenix. Pentagon then came in and hit a modified pile driver on Fenix. Fenix then hit a neck breaker on Pentagon. All men were down in the ring. Fenix hit a sunset flip to Pentagon off the top rope. Drago went for a roll-up on Fenix until Fenix fell into a backstabber by Pentagon. Pentagon chopped Drago on the ropes. Drago arm dragged Pentagon to the outside and then dove onto him. Fenix then dove from the second floor onto Drago and Pentagon on the outside. Back in the ring, Pentagon hit a muscle buster on Drago. Fenix also hit a devastating move on Drago. Fenix then hit a reverse huracanrana on Pentagon for the pin.

WINNER: Fenix at 7:43

Backstage: Dario made it clear that Mundo won't intimidate him.

FINAL THOUGHTS: Lucha Underground improves every episode. I hope that they also continue to grow their audience with every episode... Mil Muertes is a believable, dominant character that I'm excited to see what he does next. I'm also intrigued to see that they do with Chavo next now that he's a wanted man... An underrated aspect of Lucha Underground is that there isn't just one central storyline where all the focus is pointed towards. There are multiple stories that feel equally important and matter to the direction of the show. Chavo turning heel was still an important story this week, but so was the Johnny Mundo-Dario feud, Mil Muertes, and the three-way main event. Lucha Underground is continuing to hit their stride from the big picture storylines all the way to the small details.
