NWA CHARLOTTE TV REPORT 6/20: Watch Ricky Steamboat's son in action, Kage vs. Xsiris Jun 21, 2009 - 3:02:56 PM
-Announcers Tim Dixon and Lodi opened the show. The featured bout on this episode will pit the son of Ricky "The Dragon" Steamboat, Richie Steamboat, against Vordell Walker.
-Following the opening montage, Tim Dixon was set to interview Vordell Walker. Walker grabbed the mic from Dixon and said Steamboat would have no excuses tonight (their scheduled match at the April event didn't take place). Walker said he's going to "put the fire out of the Dragon."
1 – DYLAN KAGE vs. XSIRIS
This isn't a #1 Contenders Match, but Dixon explains that both men are fighting for a shot at NWA Charlotte Cruiserweight Champion Josh Magnum. After a brief exchange, Kage tosses Xsiris to the outside. Kage follows up with a flying clothesline off the apron. Back in the ring, Kage hits Xsiris with a trio of different suplexes for a nearfall. Xsiris with a springboard missile dropkick. Kage grabs a leg and head butts Xsiris in the groin. Xsiris with a butterfly suplex into a slam for a nearfall. Xsiris reverses a powerbomb attempt and gives Kage a facebuster variation. Kage misses his End of the Trail spinning kick and Xsiris finishes him with his DUI finisher (a reverse Kill Switch) for the win.
WINNER: Xsiris in 7:27. Nice cruiserweight action.
-Tim Dixon interviews Richie Steamboat. Steamboat said tonight would be the conclusion between himself and Walker. Steamboat said he didn't have to worry about filling his father's boots tonight – he brought his own boots.
2 – VORDELL WALKER vs. RICHIE STEAMBOAT
Steamboat came out to a good pop. Both men exchange arm drags and play to the crowd. Walker attempts to throw Steamboat over the top rope, but Steamboat skins the cat. Walker is irate and charges at Steamboat. Steamboat yanks down the top rope and sends him to the floor. Steamboat with a springboard plancha to the outside. Back in the ring, Walker goes after Steamboat's ribs with roundhouse kicks. Steamboat surprises Walker with a running crossbody for a nearfall. Walker locks in a bear hug to work over Steamboat's injured ribs. Steamboat connects with a tomahawk chop off the top rope. Steamboat hits the ropes, but then sells his injured ribs in a nice spot. Walker capitalizes with a quick rollup and holds the tights, but Steamboat manages to kick out. Steamboat climbs to the top. With Walker distracting the referee, Phil Shatter runs out and pushes Steamboat off the turnbuckle. Walker hits a spinning uranage for the cheap win.
WINNER: Vordell Walker in 9:52. Here's hoping Steamboat continues to work in places like NWA Charlotte instead of signing a developmental deal and doing worthless three-minute matches in FCW.
-After the match, the heel group III (Phill Shatter, Mikael Judas, & Ryan O'Reilly) prepare to beat down Steamboat. Timber and Team Macktion (Kirby & T.J. Mack) ran out with chairs to make the save. Shatter challenged them to a six-man tag later in the show.
-Tim Dixon interviews new manager Joey Eastman. Eastman said he went around the world to bring in the best. Eastman is bringing in The Sheik next week.
3 – III (Phill Shatter & Mikeal Judas & Ryan O'Reilly) vs. TIMBER & TEAM MACKTION (Kirby & T.J. Mack)
The faces clear the ring to start the match. Timber tosses his partners onto III at ringside. Team Macktion uses their speed and quickness to gain control for a short period. Kirby does a headstand in the corner and Judas hits a big boot to send him to the floor. Kirby is selling his knee after the fall. III works over Kirby's knee with all sorts of offense. Kirby finally manages to reach his corner and make the hot tag to TJ. TJ hits the Code Red on O'Reilly, but Judas breaks up the pin attempt with a kick to TJ's head. At ringside, Shatter and Timber brawl. Judas gives Kirby The Final Confession (a chokeslam onto a knee). O'Reilly has Team Macktion on his shoulders and hits a double death valley driver for the pin on both men.
WINNERS: III in 11:11. Really slow until the finish. If you only have time to catch one match, do yourself a favor and check out Walker vs. Steamboat.
