WWE SUPERSTARS ROUNDTABLE REVIEWS 6/18: Donofrio, Mezzera, Parks rate and review Jun 19, 2009 - 2:13:36 PM
This week's version of Superstars wasn't WWE's best since it's conception a few months back but it wasn't bad either. They were able to squeeze in four matches this week (even if one was a Ryder squash match). Chavo and Santino wasn't anything special in the ring but I did like Santino's interaction with the crowd during the match. It gave it more of a fun feel to it. On the other hand, I don't like how Santino is almost surprised at himself when he pulls off a basic move. This guy was a 2-time Intercontinental Champion, ya know?
Eve and Layla wasn't terrible either. Obviously this feud isn't over as you could tell by the look on Layla's face. It is kind of nice to see WWE does have a secondary women's feud running for almost 2 months now, even if the feud isn't one that's going to be memorable.
The 6 man main event was obviously the strongest part of the show. Even though I'm a huge fan of Christian and Jack Swagger, it was refreshing to see them mostly showcase the tag teams in this match. I was hoping that the Hart Dynasty would get the win here though, thrusting them into the Tag Title picture and maybe making it a Triple Threat for the titles at The Bash.
Like I said, not a great show but it certainly didn't make me want to change the channel like Raw has for the past few months. Considering that the WWE didn't use any of it's big main event guys on the show, there really were no major complaints.

This was another good episode of Superstars. However, it was a bit hard to rate. When Superstars has been good, it has typically had two stand out matches to talk about. This week, WWE tweaked the formula a bit and had four matches instead of three, leaving only one long match, the main event six man tag. That was a good match with Christian, Carlito & Primo vs. Jack Swagger and the Hart Dynasty. I prefer the three match formula to the four, but it wasn't a big deal.
Santino Marella was very funny. His match with Chavo Guerrero was decent, but his performance and his portrayal of his gimmick where he amazes himself as he discovers he can wrestle were very good. Zack Ryder looked good in his short squash. I was pleasantly surprised by Eve Torres vs. Layla. The match was better than I expected, and Eve busted out a very impressive looking new finisher. So, while only one match was really good, the others were all solid. There were some fine performances. The Edge video was OK. I really didn't have anything to complain about, but not enough stood out as being that good to give it a higher score.

Well, we were blessed with four matches instead of the usual three this week. Unfortunately, one involved Santino Marella and the other Layla vs. Eve. Santino wrestled his longest match since I can remember and aside from his mouthiness, it was nothing special. The women's match ended with a surprisingly amicable handshake, but I think we haven't seen the last of that feud.
Zack Ryder looked impressive in his squash and while the character is incredibly one-dimensional, he's winning me over in the ring. The main event was a fine contest and easily the best of the show, continuing to give the Colons some momentum heading into the rare tag title match on a PPV against Cody Rhodes & Ted DiBiase.
