TNA Impact News & Notes 7/15

-- Bully Ray was introduced as a new authority figure overseeing the roster. The storyline is Bully was hired by TNA president Dixie Carter to "lay down the law" during the reign of Dixie's fictional nephew, new TNA World Hvt. champion Ethan Carter III.

Ray's re-introduction was part of a show-opening "talent and production meeting" held in the ring. Carter offered a worked-shoot speech about TNA needing to stick together and trust her.

The "TNA reset" led to a 20-man battle royal to determine who should face ECIII for the TNA Title later in the show. Drew McIntyre won the battle royal by last eliminating Eric Young.

In the TV main event, ECIII retained the TNA World Title against McIntyre. This followed a ref bump and Drew's "Rising" tag partner, Eli Drake, turning on McIntyre with a crutch to the back.

-- Former TNA World Hvt. champion Kurt Angle delivered a speech about his health. Angle noted he will be out "for a little while" getting surgery to remove a tumor from his neck.

Angle also noted that he will get another TNA Title shot against ECIII when he returns from surgery.

Eric Young interrupted the promo and attacked Angle for a customary storyline write-off.

-- Brooke Tessmacher captured the Knockouts Title from Taryn Terrell to abruptly end Taryn's lengthy title reign. Prior to the finish, Gail Kim resurfaced as a ninja assassin taking out The Dollhouse, which provided a distraction for Brooke to pin Taryn.

-- TNA put four wrestlers in a match for the X Division Title that resulted in Tigre Uno retaining the X Title. Also in the match were D.J. Zema, Rockstar Spud, and Grado, who took the fall.

-- Prior to the main event, TNA aired the Magnus vs. James Storm "Unsanctioned fight" from the Slammiversary PPV in June. Storm then cut a backstage promo vowing to recruit a female member of The Revolution to oppose Mickie James.

TNA announced that Mickie James and Magnus will face Storm and his new member in a mixed tag match in two weeks on Impact.

-- Full Match Results: (1) Drew McIntyre won a 20-man battle royal to earn a TNA Title shot later in the show. ... (2) X Division champion Tigre Uno beat Rockstar Spud, D.J. Zema, and Grado in a four-way match to retain the X Division Title. ... (3) Brooke Tessmacher beat KO champion Taryn Terrell (w/Jade & Marti Belle) to capture the Knockouts Title. ... (4) TNA World Hvt. champion Ethan Carter III (w/Tyrus) beat Drew Galloway (w/Eli) to retain the TNA World Hvt. Title.
