What is the biggest difference between the "golden era" of WWE's Women's Division and the current era of the Divas division? Current TNA Knockout Mickie James, who was part of the tail-end of the "golden era," offered her insight in an exclusive interview on the May 10 PWTorch Livecast.

"It's not fair for me to assess the division right now. Although I have seen some matches here and there, I haven't been able to sit down and study it. But, I think the beauty of what we had was that we were very much in-tune and in-charge of who we were on the show. And what we represented. There was that mutual respect between you and the writers to create these magical moments of who your character is and where you're going," Mickie exclusively told PWTorch editor Wade Keller.

Mickie continued: "Everybody was different and unique. There wasn't one character - male or female - remotely the same. We all had our own style, we wrestled differently, we had different looks, we had different gear, the way we walked and talked - it was all unique. And that comes from being prepared for those moments and knowing who were, comfortable with who you were in the ring, and trying to be true to whoever you're portraying."

Mickie added that the relationship between Divas and Creative allowed them to create more compelling angles and matches that eventually paid off in memorable moments.

"Everything was so elaborate and unique," Mickie said. "Whereas, I don't know how you get back to that. I don't want to negate anyone who is on TV now because I'm sure they've worked very hard and are trying to be their own individual. For me, though, you had some sort of input into what you were doing and who you were on that screen.

"When you're given something and given an opportunity to sit with the writers, you could say, 'Can I say it more like this? This is how I think my character would feel.' And you worked together to make it to where you're getting across the same points that you need to get across, but you're making it magical because you're owning it and making it your own. In order to be a believable character, you have to believe it yourself. And if you don't believe it, then you can't make the world believe it."
