Earlier this week a Spike TV schedule showed TNA Impact listed for Monday, March 1. That, it turns out, may have simply been a mistake. PWTorch has been told by a plugged in industry source that March 1 was talked about as a target date for a second live Impact, but it was a while ago and was left on the schedule as a tentative date that wasn't ever made official. That's why Spike TV removed the date from its online schedule.

As of now, it does not appear that Impact will air on March 1. There is still talk, as Spike TV has said publicly, or something along the lines of quarterly specials. As PWTorch first reported weeks ago, those specials would be live but not necessarily labelled as an episode of Impact, but could be built up instead as a special PPV-caliber card over the course of several weeks on Impact, similar to how WCW promoted Clash of the Champions specials in the late-'80s or early-'90s, or how UFC does now with their Fight Night specials.

The Wrestling Observer had reported that March 1 was the beginning of Impact going weekly, with a likely every-other week taping format. That is being disputed by both TNA and Spike TV officials.

There may be more to this story, in that something fell through causing a cancelation of plans for a March 1 special, but our insider says March 1 was never cemented, which matches what Eric Bischoff said on the Bubba the Love Sponge radio show today. It could also be that they want to make the announcement with more fanfare or as a result of a PPV angle.

Another Monday special is likely, and perhaps it'll end up being on March 1 after all, but all indications are the announcement was at least premature and at most totally inaccurate.

ADDENDUM at 5:20 p.m. ET: Since this story was published, two sources with good track records with us have said Spike and TNA are trying to hide that a deal is in place, and that the announcement is forthcoming, but some people on the inside are being lied to and told to spread the word about it not being a done deal so they can announce it their way since word did get out prematurely. So Bischoff's denial on the Bubba the Love Sponge radio show earlier today could be a cover story so they can release the news of going weekly their way. So stay tuned for further developments.
