TNA Ratings News: Good News and Bad News from Impact TV ratings following the Bound for Glory PPV Oct 26, 2009 - 11:11:44 AM
The October 22 edition of TNA Impact averaged a 1.10 rating, which was up 17.0 percent from the Super Impact's 0.94 overall rating. That's the good news.
The bad news is that the first hour drew a higher rating than the second hour, which was a problem for TNA earlier in the year when viewers were not retained throughout the show. The first hour averaged a 1.13 rating and the second hour averaged a 1.07 rating.
Also bad news is the gimmick matches sprinkled throughout the second hour did not fare well in the ratings. The final two quarter-hours of the show averaged weak 1.05 and 1.07 ratings, respectively, featuring the Ultimate X and cage matches.
Back to the good news. The overall show rating was up 3.9 percent compared to the previous five weeks of TV. The show was also up 4.5 percent compared to the previous ten weeks of TV.
Bad news, though, is the show was down 5.3 percent compared to all of 2009. That reflects TNA Impact still being behind the curve on this year's ratings. It's not a sign of progress to be behind the 2009 average this late in the year.
