TNA News: Abyss says he's turned down three separate offers from WWE to leave TNA

TNA wrestler Abyss claims he's turned down three separate offers from WWE out of loyalty for the company that put him on national TV. Abyss categorized WWE's interest level in signing him to a deal as "high."

"I've had opportunities to go there," Abyss said on the U.K. Sun's WrestleCast show. "There was high interest from WWE, but I just haven't had any interest in going."

Abyss says he's in a unique position to be able to say he's been with a wrestling company since the early stages of its development.

"I'm one of the originals, I've been with TNA since the one year anniversary of the company," Abyss said. "And very few people in this business can say they've been there from the beginning."

Caldwell's Analysis: I'm not surprised WWE would have high interest in Abyss, as they constantly look for big men to bring into the company to play heel roles against top babyfaces who are forced to "overcome the odds." The timing would have been right about two years ago when Great Khali, Big Daddy V, and Big Show were top heels and WWE was on a "big man kick." Abyss probably would have been shot right to the top and done well for himself considering he's more athletic than all three men. I agree with what Torch reader Adam Reimer says below regarding Abyss sticking with TNA instead of jumping to WWE...

Adam Reimer responds: Abyss has always been one of my more guilty pleasure type favorites in TNA because of what he does to himself strictly for the enjoyment of the fans. He reminds me of the guys in the glory days of ECW that literally broke their bodies for the fans.

Abyss might have been pushed into a main event spot right away in WWE, but lets face it, besides Big Show all the big men in the WWE have been buried pretty bad. Abyss was pretty much a hybrid of Mankind and Kane and I just could never see the WWE letting Abyss be the way TNA lets him, especially now. If Abyss were in the WWE right now I am sure we would see him regularly being beat by the likes of Rey Mysterio, John Cena and Hornswoggle or he would have been given the dreaded "future endeavors" ticket. Good for him showing loyalty and for sticking with the brand that will at least keep him a top star.
