TNA News: USA Today reports on Sarah Palin offer; other media outlets running story as well Nov 13, 2008 - 2:15:16 PM
TNA's offer to Alaskan governor Sarah Palin to appear at the Final Resolution 2008 Part II PPV in Orlando next month was picked up by USA Today... today. After FOX Sports publicized the story on its home page yesterday, USA Today's "Game On" blog commented on the story.
"Having spent the campaign season wrestling with the issues, Sarah Palin now has an offer to join pro wrestling," writes Reid Cherner and Tom Weir.
"Alas, no, the Republican party's candidate for vice president isn't being asked to ascend to the top rope, take flight and dig a spiked heel into an opponent. But Palin has been offered an honorary position - and a $50,000 paycheck - to sign on with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling."
The Chicago Sun-Times also posted a brief story about the Palin offer yesterday. TNA claims the story has also been picked up by L.A. Times, Yahoo, Reuters, and business journals. We have to hear a response from the governor's office to the offer, however.
Caldwell's Analysis: The unfortunate thing about the publicity is that some news outlets are picking up the story, but there aren't plugs for TNA's Impact show that airs Thursday nights on Spike TV at 9:00 p.m. EST. What is TNA? Where are they located? When can I see the show? For casual wrestling fans stumbling across the story who may have never heard of TNA and only know WWE, it just sounds like a funny-sounding wrestling company based on the initials.
