TNA News: TNA attempting another publicity stunt, this time involving Alaska governor Sarah Palin Nov 11, 2008 - 2:45:53 PM
TNA issued a press release today inviting Republican party Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin to the Final Resolution PPV in Orlando next month. TNA president Dixie Carter is offering to personally fly Sarah and her husband, Todd, from Anchorage, Alaska to Orlando for the Dec. 7 PPV.
TNA wants to induct Palin into the "Beautiful People" stable along with Velvet Sky and Angelina Love to make her an "honorary TNA knockout." The formal invite will be announced on this Thursday's Impact on Spike TV.
If Palin attends the PPV, TNA will donate $50,000 to a charity of her choice or donate the check to the local youth hockey association in Anchorage. In the press release, Dixie Carter took the opportunity to commend Palin on breaking through in a male-dominated political industry.
"Governor Palin has combined her experiences as a wife and mother with her political savvy to prove to America and the world that politics aren't just a man's game," Carter said. "I know firsthand what challenges you have to face when breaking a glass ceiling in a male-dominated profession."
Caldwell's Analysis: My life is officially complete after being able to write a wrestling story involving Sarah Palin. But, seriously, TNA tried this before with former Texas Tech head basketball coach Bobby Knight, who turned down an offer to become an official "head coach" for TNA Wrestling. They also had the embarrassing episode with "Pacman" Jones when he was prevented from wrestling, yet TNA continued to advertise him for PPVs.
Palin continues to be a hot topic in the news, even after the Republican party's failed attempt to earn the next Presidential bid. We'll continue to follow this if a major news outlet picks up the story.
