It's been a while! I hope everyone is enjoying the holidays, and just squeaking in under the wire I'm back with the final 2014 PPV rankings. Due to a variety of reasons, this column will cover WWE Survivor Series, ROH Final Battle, and TLC. Because we have some ground to cover, I'm going to abandon my usual format and highlight each show. The regular format will be back on Sunday night for NJPW's first foray into regular PPV. But enough hyperbole. "What will be number one?" I hear the world cry. Let's find out.

WWE SURVIVOR SERIES 2014

- Hands down the match of the night was Team Cena vs. Team Authority main event. The company went out of their way to make Dolph Ziggler look strong, and the crowd was hot for it. The downside is that with the benefit of hindsight, Team Authority were gone for a month. Good job. The show was free, I guess.

- Sting. His appearance was a legit surprise for me, and I really like that we haven't seen him since. Sting should be protected as a very special attraction, and the mystique works much better when he's seldom seen. It looks like Triple H vs. Sting is Mania bound...

- Aside from that, nothing else really stuck out on the show. I've heard the argument that it was free, so don't complain... but I'm of the thought that if a lot more eyes are on the product, wouldn't you put on the best show possible?

Verdict: A middle of the road show.

ROH FINAL BATTLE

- Best match for me was a toss-up between Jay Briscoe vs. Adam Cole and The Young Bucks/A.C.H. vs. Daniels/Kazarian/Cedric Alexander. It depends on your taste. The Briscoe-Cole match was absolutely brutal: a bloody brawl that was a complete spectacle. The latter was a spotfest, really fast-paced, and highly athletic. You can't go wrong with either.

- Matt Sydal vs. Jay Lethal was another strong match on a wrestling-heavy show. The two clicked really well, and I'd like to see some re-matches.

- All in all, a fun way to spend three hours. ROH is one of the most consistently good promotions in the world in my opinion.

Verdict: Watch it.

WWE TLC

- Luke Harper vs. Dolph Ziggler. Wow, this was excellent. Dolph seemed like he was trying to kill himself out there, and Harper wasn't far behind. Just a brutal ladder match, and the crowd treated Ziggler like a mega-star. Go out of your way to see this one.

- Dean Ambrose vs. Bray Wyatt was my second best match of the night. A long main event, and both guys really worked hard. A worthy WWE main event for certain.

- Stairs matches are silly.

- Aside from the two matches I recommended, this was kind of an exhausting show. With ladders galore in the opener, and then chairs and tables consistently used in the next hour or so, I was numb by the end of the show.

Verdict: If you like plundering, you've found three hours worth on this PPV.

And that's it! Thanks to PWTorch and particularly James Caldwell, and thanks to anyone that takes the time to read my column. Wishing you a healthy and prosperous 2015, and I'll be back later next week to cover NJPW's Wrestle Kingdom as I start my fifth (!) year at the site.
