-- February 2: Independent wrestler Shane Strickland has signed with Lucha Underground, according to the Maryland Championship Wrestling promotion. Strickland was pulled from MCW's February 7 show to be part of the next Lucha TV tapings in Los Angeles.

-- January 29: El Rey Network signed a new distribution deal with Dish Network, expanding Lucha Underground's reach on Wednesday nights.

The channel is available on Dish Ch. 253 through Dish programming packages America’s Top 200, America‘s Top 250, and America’s Everything Pak, plus Dish Latino offerings. [ LINK: Announcement HERE ]

-- January 26: In light of WWE unable to air a live, arena-based episode of Raw on Monday night, El Rey Network aired two episodes from their Lucha Underground series.

Aired at 8:30 p.m. EST was "A Unique Opportunity," the episode from December 17 that featured the Boyle Heights Battle Royal setting the stage for the first Lucha Underground champion. Aired at 9:30 p.m. EST was "Aztec Warfare," which originally aired January 7, to determine the first LU champion.

-- January 17: Lucha Underground announced the signing of former WWE star Alberto Del Rio (Alberto El Patron) for the TV series on El Rey Network, the promotion announced Saturday.

Alberto debuted at Saturday's Lucha Underground TV taping in Los Angeles and competed in his first match. No word yet on when his first match will air. “We are thrilled to have Alberto El Patrón join 'Lucha Underground.' He is a bold and exciting luchador who delivers attitude and skill. He is a very welcome addition to our roster," said showrunner Eric Van Wagenen in a press release.
