Torch reader Fintan Monaghan sent the following report from last night's NOAH show in Tokyo, Japan where Mitsuharu Misawa was honored.
Misawa remembered at Tokyo NOAH Show
Fans were given an opportunity to pay their respects to the recently deceased Mitsuharu Misawa at NOAH's Kourakuen show in Tokyo last night (Monday, June 22).
A memorial greeted attendees as they entered the arena and many stopped to say a few words. Green and white flowers (Misawa's signature colors) were placed next to the framed picture of the Japanese legend. The flowers the fans had brought quickly covered the table and many wept openly in what was an emotional scene.
Before the show itself began, Joe Higuchi led the NOAH wrestlers to the ring. Holding a large picture of Misawa, he motioned the crowd for a moment of silence. All wore solemn faces and more sobs could be heard from the crowd.
Fans were given a final chance to remember Misawa at show's end as the ring was bathed in a green glow and his famous theme music played. Green and white streamers filled the ring and the crowd chanted his name one last time.
