Hogan & Flair News: Photos and behind-the-scenes news on Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan together this weekend Dec 8, 2008 - 12:51:30 PM
Saturday night in Charlotte, N.C., Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan were back in the same ring as part of Ric Flair presenting his two sons, Reid and David, in the same ring against the Nasty Boys. Flair managed his sons while Hogan was special referee for the match.
The event, like most independent shows, wasn't without its headaches or chaotic moments. Professional photographer and Torch reader Matthew Roberts was part of the media throng at the show and he provided the following notes.
-- The meet-and-greet started about an hour late because the Nasty Boys were late. Hulk Hogan came into the room with the Nastys and Jimmy Hart, then Hulk praised Flair to the crowd before going into the locker room. The meet-and-greet was pretty unorganized.
-- There were about seven-to-ten photographers credentialed for the event, and family and friends were backstage, so it was pretty packed.
-- Hogan and Flair were in a separate dressing rooms for filming (not sure if Hulk was being filmed) but a crew followed Ric's every move, he was even mic'd, which was odd.
--Ricky Steamboat Jr. was really nice and polite and a pleasure to shoot.
-- In defense of Highspots, which was putting on the show, it was just as chaotic as the event in Memphis ("Clash of The Legends") with Hogan. Outside of WWE and WCW, the independent promoters only work with Hogan once and when you don't have security checking credentials, or any organization, its hard on everyone.
-- You really feel sorry for fans who paid $100-150 for the autograph and photo with Flair because then a lot of fans were able to get autographs and pics for free by waiting in the gym lobby when he left the arena.
