Eric Bischoff is pleased with the progress from a production-side and TV ratings-side with the first season of Hulk Hogan's Celebrity Wrestling. Although much of what they learned along the way could have helped during the planning stage, Bischoff says they have a "unique and special" product.
"We knew back in June when we shot the show that we had something unique and special," Bischoff said on the In Your Head radio show. "We didn't expect the world to jump up and down and scream in unison that it's the best thing to ever happen to the wrestling business. Everyone has an opinion and their own taste, but we're getting so much positive feedback. The network is happy. The talent that was involved is happy."
The network is happy, Bischoff says, which prompts question of whether a second season of Hogan's CCW is in the works. Prior to being asked, Bischoff said "we really look forward to Season two because we've learned so much," but then he clarified his statement about current talks with CMT.
"You never know for sure until you know for sure. We're hopeful and we're optimistic, but no decision has been made yet," Bischoff said. "There's been no real discussions. We knew there wouldn't be any of those discussions until well until the schedule. We're very optimistic, but we're not having any discussions. There's been no decision made."
Regarding rumors of Bischoff and Hogan taking the product on a tour, he shot down the notion of taking celebrities like Danny Bonaduce and Dennis Rodman around the country to see people spend money on celebrities trying to wrestle. He's just excited to start a business from scratch and see it grow.
"What I've said in the past and what is true is that this was the first step in a series of steps that we have designed or created a plan for - given success and depending on how the market reacts - this is the first step we're going to take into launching a wrestling company," Bischoff said. "We're just going to go about it a little differently than people have gone about it in the past."
In part two of the interview, Bischoff describes his vision for WWE's product as it relates to things that went wrong in WCW from a management perspective. We'll post those quotes with analysis later today.
2nd season isnt going to happen, show SUCKS. The whole idea sucks - watched
all the shows so far and fast forward through most of it cause it just
doesnt hold a viewers attention. Bischoff is just a salesman who wants to
keep his pockets lined with cash. Think of a BETTER idea dude. Cause this
one SUCKS the big one. Redneck Weddings (which goes on after it is ten
times more the show than this TURD)
