By Chris Vetter, Torch Contributor

Torch Indy Reporter Chris Vetter travels thousands of miles each year to see dozens of indy shows all over the Midwest. His reports covering the entire U.S. Indy Scene are usually published exclusively here at PWTorch.com every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

WEEKEND RESULTS, NEWS & NOTES

This is a day late, as I couldn’t get through to post it yesterday afternoon… presumably the site was tied up because of the Benoit news. I’m so sickened, I can’t comment on it. So, I’ll just focus on the indy news.

I went to the Chicago Ridge ROH show on Saturday, and those results are below. It was a fantastic event, and it deserves the high marks it is getting.

Chikara Pro held its “Young Lions Cup” tournament over three days this weekend, and Chuck Taylor defeated his traveling partner, Ricochet, in the finals. The day 3 event looks particularly good. Results of all three are below.

IWA Mid-South had its big annual “King of the Death Matches” tournament over two days, and the winner this year was Corporal Robinson, as he defeated Freak Show in the finals Saturday. In one non-tournament match, Brandon Thomaselli defeated Low Ki to retain the light-heavyweight title. Results of both shows are below.

Pro Wrestling Syndicate held its debut show in Garfield, N.J., with a reported crowd of 225. The lineup featured Samoa Joe, Abyss, Human Tornado and Koko B. Ware. Results are below. The next show is Sept. 7.

Alex Shelly and Sonjay Dutt were both in action in UWA Hardcore on Friday, and I now have those results below as well. Check out this promotion at www.uwahardcorewrestling.com.

Chris Jericho signed autographs at the Pro Wrestling Event show on Sunday, and PWE is claiming a crowd of 500 at the show.

In other news…

Chikara Pro has announced it has canceled its show for Camden, N.J., on Aug. 3. It was supposed to be part of the “Vans Warped Tour.”

And you can always reach me with your indy results at chrisjvetter@hotmail.com. I request that you remember to say date, location (including building, city & state!), and full name of the promotion.
