The TNA promotion had an opportunity on Sunday night to set a standard that all present and future promotions could follow. TNA could have taken a major step in terms of mainstream credibility. TNA could have positioned themselves as an organization that puts integrity and ethics ahead of any other virtue.

Instead, they chose to remind everyone that people within wrestling companies are still out-of-touch with what occurs in the rest of the everyday world. Dixie Carter's statement to Congress in 2007 now likens her to Rafael Palmeiro and his infamous denial of steroid use (eventually proven false by a positive steroid test) made to Congress in 2005.

Using terms like "no comment," and allowing Kurt Angle to compete on a pay-per-view and retain the TNA World Title makes it appear that TNA is just going to sweep this whole event with Angle under the rug in hopes that it just goes away.

Perhaps they are looking at this situation with Angle as simply another way to try and garner mainstream media attention, regardless of the clear negative light this will paint the promotion in.

When you have professional football players being released from multi-million dollar contracts and suspended indefinitely for dog fighting, DUI manslaughter, and continued run-ins with law enforcement, a professional wrestling company allowing one of their top performers to main event a pay-per-view, along with a continued run with their top championship, simply shows that the word professional is as vacant in TNA as Dixie Carter's statement to Congress.
