4/1 NEWS: Vince McMahon Publicly Apologizes For Lack of Bad Taste in Flair Tribute Apr 1, 2008 - 1:31:25 PM
In a message posted on WWE.com this afternoon, WWE Chairman Vince McMahon publicly apologized for the completele lack of bad taste shown in Monday night's tribute to the retiring Ric Flair.
"We have a reputation to our fans," said McMahon "They don't want to see our superstars displaying genuine emotion! They want to see midgets being beaten up, corpses being defiled, and men being forced to kiss my big, beautiful ass!"
Flair's departure from active competition shelved an angle McMahon planned to start on the Raw following WresteMania that would have eventually revealed Flair as the father of Stephanie McMahon's baby AND Stephanie herself, leading to a Flair vs Triple H main event at SummerSlam.
McMahon himself was not in Orlando for last night's Raw, as he was in Tijuana, Mexico planning for an upocming twist to the Santino Marella-Maria feud involving a donkey. As a result, none of the ideas he had personally written for the night were used, including Cryme Tyme stealing Flair and Shawn Michaels's Rolex watches, and a striptease by Mae Young.
"You will never again see such a genuine display of emotion and comraderie on WWE television again," the message on WWE.com continued. "Beginning tonight on ECW, there will be a return to what WWE is really all about!". Already slated for ECW tonight is a tables match between Hornswoggle and Big Daddy V, and the debut of a new segment featuring relationship advice with Paul Burchill and Katie Lea.
In related news, Orlando police arrested a man attempting to disrupt the retirement ceremony. The man, identified only as "Mongo," claimed to be a friend and former associate of Flair's.
