Jackson, Miss.
Report by Kyle Noblett, PWTorch correspondent
There were 5,500 people in a 6,500 seat building. The west end upper level was blocked off behind the entrance, but every available seat was full.
A pre-show video package was centered on Kevin Owens talking about him being a family man and trying to change his son's mind about John Cena. Owens was scheduled for the show and even replied to my tweet Wednesday confirming he was booked here, but was taken off the weekend loop yesterday. I would have saved $200 had I known Owens wasn't on the card, but when he told me he was I immediately bought tickets. Rather disappointed in the last-minute change.
Prime Time Players did a recorded segment hyping fans up for the show.
(1) Jimmy Uso beat Bo Dallas in 6:00 with a top-rope splash. Great heel heat for Bo. Kids chanted "Uso" the entire match.
(2) Fandango beat Adam Rose (w/Rosa Mendes) in 6:00 with a small package when Rose turned around from kissing Rosa Mendes on the apron. The biggest reaction was fans singing and dancing to both entrances. Elementary match.
(3) Jack Swagger beat The Miz via submission in 10:00 with the Anklelock. Swagger started a "U-S-A" chant before Miz grabbed the mic and screamed "I'm from New York." The "We the people" gimmick is still over strong.
(4) Macho Mandow beat The Miz in 2:00 via submission with the figure-four leglock. Miz demanded another match after losing to Swagger.
(5) Divas champion Nikki Bella (w/Brie Bella) beat Paige and Naomi (w/Tamina) in 6:00 in a three-way match to retain the Divas Title. The finish of the triple threat match came when Nikki hit the Rack Attack on Naomi. One day they'll promote the NXT Divas...one day.
(6) U.S. champion John Cena beat Wade Barrett in the U.S. Title Open Challenge in 14:00 to retain the United States Title. Cena won with the AA. The most over talent on the card.
(7) WWE tag champions New Day (Kofi Kingston & Big E. w/Xavier Woods) beat Prime Time Players (Titus O'Neil & Darren Young) and The Ascension in 12:00 in a triple threat match to retain the WWE Tag Titles. Typical tomfoolery at the end with Kofi getting cheap victory. PTPers got their heat back post-match by hitting finishers. New Day and PTP are over, while Ascension registered zero reaction from the crowd.
(8) IC champion Ryback beat Bray Wyatt in 12:00 with Shell-Shock to retain the Intercontinental Championship. Kids love Ryback. Fireflies were still prominent for Bray's entrance.
(9) Randy Orton beat WWE World Hvt. champion Seth Rollins in 19:00 in a non-title steel cage match. The non-title contest ended when Rollins, who was standing on the top rope, was thrown off the rope and right into a RKO. Rollins did not have the belt on him, continuing the storyline of Dean Ambrose having possession of the title.
