WWE Live show report
May 22, 2015
Manchester, N.H. at Verizon Wireless Arena
Report by Matt Pearson, PWTorch correspondent

It was the first time back to this venue for WWE since 2013. No announcement of any future dates. The arena was 60 percent full, I’d say. (The venue advertises 11,000, so I’d say a strong 6,000 were in attendance.)

- Cena traveled by tour bus with Nikki Bella, all others by rental cars. Rusev and Lana traveled together. John Cena, Sr. was ringside for the show.

- The VIP Experience padded seats looked to only have four ticketed customers, just going by who was sitting there.

- No Legends in the concourse. (At past live events, they’ve had a legend for a meet and greet.)

- This show seemed really basic. One production truck and one crew tour bus on-site. Set-up was Friday morning (they had hockey Thursday and will have hockey again Saturday night).

- Tony Chimmel was the announcer. The pre-show Twitter Tease was Prime Time Players vs. Bo Dallas & Heath Slater in either a basic tag team match, or a dance-off.

(1) Neville beat King Barrett. Barrett came out with mic to degrade the crowd. He issued an open challenge to the back, and out came Neville.

(2) Luke Harper (w/Erick Rowan) beat Zack Ryder. Harper defeated Ryder, then they double-teamed Ryder to add insult to injury.

(3) Prime Time Players (Titus O'Neil & Darren Young) beat Bo Dallas & Heath Slater. The Twitter Tease was announced as a tag team match. Great aggressive offense by PTP - the most hard-impact match on the night, I thought.

After losing, Heath yelled at Bo, they argued, and Bo Dallas “quit” his band. Heath said he doesn’t need anyone, and issued an open challenge to anyone in the back. Cue Axelmania.

(4) Curtis Axel beat Heath Slater. Axelmania ran wild for an impromptu match with Slater, hitting all of the signature moves.

(5) Dean Ambrose beat Kane. I thought this match was advertised elsewhere as a Street Fight, but here, it was a basic one-fall match.

[Intermission]

(6) Divas champion Nikki Bella beat Tamina Snuka to retain the Divas Title. Nikki gave John Cena, Sr. a friendly hug at ringside on her way in.

(7) WWE tag champions New Day (Big E. & Xavier Woods) beat Tyson Kidd & Cesaro (w/Natalya) via interference from Kofi Kingston to retain the WWE Tag Titles. Both with some mic work before the match; New Day was cut off by the sirens, and they talked for a little while before things got started.

After the match, Natalya slapped Kofi, Cesaro swung Kofi, and the good guys's music played. Big E. carried Xavier and Kofi over his shoulders to the back.

(8) U.S. champion John Cena beat Rusev in a steel cage match to retain the United States Title. Once the match started, they went for pinfalls, which I was confused about. Apparently the way to win was not limited to over the top or through the door. Oh well. John got the upper hand when the ref got bumped and Rusev tapped to the STFU with no ref in sight. Rusev then got upper hand when Lana came down ringside with a big smile on her face and big cheers. She stared for a while, then punched the doorkeeper ref, slammed the door on Cena, and walked to the back with a smirk. Cena then won a few minutes later when he climbed over the top quicker than Rusev crawled out the door. Now I'm confused about Lana - is that where they’re going with the angle?

Cena spent plenty of time ringside with the kids after the match to close the show.
