WrestleCade 2014 Fan Convention Report
November 29, 2014
Winston-Salem, N.C.
Report by Brian J. Adkins, PWTorch correspondent

Let me preface this by apologizing if I leave out any wrestler who did attend, as it was a hectic day and I did not have a chance to meet everyone, so if anyone else remembers more than me or saw others I didn't please write in to pwtorch@gmail.com.

For the third year in a row, the WrestleCade Fan Fest was quite a success, as there were numerous stars from the past, present, and possibly the future.

- From the NWA days: referee Tommy Young, George South, "The Boogie Woogie Man" Jimmy Valiant, The Rock N' Roll Express (Robert Gibson & Ricky Morton), manager Jim Cornette, "The Russian Bear" Ivan Koloff, Bobby Fulton of the Fantastics, Sam Houston, Baby Doll, and announcer Bob Caudle. Bobby Eaton was scheduled, but was ill.

- From the WCW era: Three V.I.P. guests were the Wolfpac of Kevin Nash, Scott Hall, and Sean Waltman, then there were the Steiner Brothers, Vader, The Faces of Fear (Meng & The Barbarian), Buff Bagwell, Queen Debra, Kevin Sullivan, Larry Zbyszko, and Lodi. Ron Simmons was listed earlier this month, but was pulled late.

- From the WWF/E era: "The Million Dollar Man" Ted DiBiase, who took photos with folks holding the Million Dollar Belt, Brutus "The Barber Beefcake, Greg "The Hammer" Valentine,"Superfly" Jimmy Snuka,"The Patriot" Del Wilkes, "Hacksaw" Jim Duggan, One Man Gang, "Cowboy"Ron Bass, Hillbilly Jim, Carlito, Big Zeke a/k/a Ezekiel Jackson, Rosey, and Drew Galloway (Drew McIntyre).

- From ECW: Shane Douglas, Sabu, the BWO (Nova & Stevie Richards & Blue Meanie), Little Guido, and C.W. Anderson.

- Past & Present TNA: Gunner, Crimson, Lei'D Tapa, Amazing Kong (Awesome Kong/Kharma in WWE), "The Pope" D'Angelo Dinero, Mickie James, Angelina Love, ODB, and Shelly Martinez of LAX.

- Others: WrestleCade champion Matt Hardy, "Greek God" Papadon, Amber O'Neal Galloway, Colt Cabana, Tully Blanchard's daughter Tessa Blanchard, and Joey Ryan & Candice LaRae.

- The former Sunny (Tammy Sytch) was scheduled, but apparently missed her flight. Jim Cornette informed me of her absence, as she was supposed to be at his roast on Friday night and she called to tell him about it. If they made an announcement, I never heard it, as it was obviously noisy due to the large attendance. Jim then went into a story as to how easy it would have been for her to get there since, according to him, all she had to do was get a flight from Newark to Greensboro and then drive about 40 minutes to Winston-Salem, which led to him recalling a time he drove 250 miles somewhere, broke down along the way, had to get the car towed, rented another car, and he still showed up to his appointment on time.

- Sabu's table fell down for some reason and a few minutes later so did Vader's. It seemed the staff did not properly fasten the latches for the tables. Vader was very red-faced and seemed sick. He was relatively quiet, but nice.

- The Wolfpac easily had the longest lines and genuinely seemed glad to be there.

- Mickie James couldn't find her table at first and was meeting others as she maneuvered to it. She was engaging and funny.

- Colt Cabana humorously had a sign that, along with his prices for autographs and photos, said "Any (C.M.) Punk questions $100."

- Others might have had a different experience, but of those I met and talked to they were all a pleasure to meet. It seemed to be quite a success, as WrestleCade organizers said on Facebook that there were approximately 3,000 fans in attendance.
