Report by Ahmed Khokhar, PWTorch reader
This was the third WWE live event in Toronto this year. We haven't had Raw here for a while and haven't had a PPV for even longer; I hope we can get a PPV soon. The arena was three-quarters full this time; last time it was only half-full.
The middle rope was pink for breast cancer awareness month. (I wonder what color the rope will be for prostate cancer awareness month.) The ring announcing was done by Justin Roberts.
(1) Sheamus beat The Miz to retain the U.S. Title. Major heat for Miz and the crowd was very into both wrestlers. Decent opening match that Sheamus won in 20 minutes after reversing a Skullcrushing Finale into a Brogue Kick.
(2) A.J. Lee beat Paige to retain the Divas Title. A.J. got a very mild "C-M Punk" chant during her entrance. Paige was in control most of the match, but A.J. won via submission. After the match, Paige got a "You Tapped Out" chant.
(3) IC champion Dolph Ziggler beat Cesaro to retain the Intercontinental Title. There was a brief "Let's Go Ziggler / Ziggler Sucks" chant, but not as even as the Cena dueling chants. This match also received a "This is Awesome" chant. Fans were really into Cesaro, chanting for the Big Swing. Ziggler won after countering the swing in a good match.
(4) Sami Zayn beat Tyson Kidd in an NXT match. Zayn had a video promo beforehand. Tyson got a "Nattie's husband" chant and the crowd was very into Zayn. Tyson got a lot of boos after he teased the crowd by attempting the Sharpshooter. Zayn won with a DDT from the top rope in a great match.
(5) Dean Ambrose beat Kane. Kane attacked Ambrose during Dean's entrance. The crowd was solidly behind Ambrose throughout the match. Ambrose won with Dirty Deeds in a 10-minute match.
[Intermission}
(6) R-Truth beat Bo Dallas. Before Bo's entrance, Truth asked the crowd if we knew how much we could get the Network for. The crowd yelled back "11.99." Truth won in a forgettable 10-minute match.
(7) Big Show & The Usos beat The Wyatt Family in a six-man tag match. Bray got a big pop every time he tagged in and there were "Let's Go Wyatts" chants during the match. The Wyatts isolated one of the Usos for most of the match, then Big Show won for his team after a KO Punch to Bray.
(8) John Cena beat Seth Rollins in a Street Fight main event. Mixed, but loud reaction for Cena. Rollins took the mic mid-way during the match and said the crowd was either chanting "Let's Go Cena" or "Cena Sucks," but what about Rollins? That got the crowd chanting for Rollins. After Rollins low-blowed Cena, the crowd started the "Thank You, Rollins" chant. Super Cena won after kicking out of everything Rollins hit him with, including a steel chair numerous times. In the end, Cena put Rollins through a table with an AA from the top rope.
Overall, a fun event with no return date announced.
