WWE Supershow results
August 16, 2014
San Jose, Calif.
Report by Greg S., PWTorch reader

(1) Dean Ambrose beat Seth Rollins. Great opening match; lots of action to get the crowd going.

(2) Adam Rose (w/handful of Rosebuds) beat Heath Slater.

(3) Big E. & Rob Van Dam beat Ryback & Cesaro. Lots of Goldberg chants.

(4) Rusev (w/Lana) beat Jack Swagger (w/Zeb Colter). Lana cut her typical anti-USA pre-match promo and Zeb countered with his usual shtick. Jack Swagger is pretty over as a babyface.

(5) Chris Jericho beat Bray Wyatt with special guest referee was Ric Flair. (Who by the way has to be the worst guest referee ever!) Nature Boy got into it with Bray at the end, including a few chops, and he took a small bump as well.

***WWE announced a special pre-sale code for tickets to WrestleMania 31.***

[Intermission]

(6) Natalya & Layla beat Paige & Rosa Mendes.

(7) Roman Reigns beat Randy Orton. Reigns came down through the crowd in my aisle right next to my seat!

Jimmy Hart came out and announced Hulk Hogan. They played the same video from Hogan's birthday bash on Raw before he came out. Hulk cut a promo hyping Summerslam and WrestleMania 31 coming to the San Jose area at Levi's Stadium. He posed for the fans to some pops, and also said he has one last match left in him for a huge pop.

(8) WWE World Hvt. champion John Cena beat Kane in a Street Fight in the main event. Kane came out in black dress pants. Post-match, Cena hyped Summerslam and WrestleMania 31, and thanked us for coming out.

NOTES: During the show, WWE played a very touching video on Connor, the young little boy who died shortly after WrestleMania this year, meeting Daniel Bryan, etc. ... This was my first non-TV taping house show since I was a young kid; I didn't expect it to be so stripped down and plain. The house show set consisted of white spotlights looking down on the ring. They had regular black steel barricades surrounding the ring, not the cushioned black TV ones. The entrance set was literally a small LED screen the wrestlers walked out from behind and two flat screen monitors on either side with their entrance videos. Above the set were large black curtains draped down. No colored LED lights or any colored lights for that matter at all. No pyro. They used the venue's sound, so it wasn't that loud or clear. I guess the rumors of WWE cutting budget money, especially for house shows, must be true because it was very plain.

- Biggest Pops: Hulk Hogan, Ric Flair, Roman Reigns, John Cena.

- Biggest Heat: Seth Rollins, Kane, John Cena, Lana.
